The problem is, he has been in the same position before, and the
outcome was the same, he is saying the same things he said 4
years ago, he was not given the head coach job at the Waratahs
and went back to being defence coach, until he left to join us.
He has only had success at U20 level, but even there they still
were only second in U20 world championship, sorry we need to
show him the door at the end of the season.

I have no intention of listening to anymore of his drivel.
The best thing he can do is leave, go now and don't let the door
slam you in the backside.
He clearly has no passion for Harlequins and every time he
speaks it's depressing, I wonder why the players have not
refused to work with him
If the CEO does not want to get shot of him then they can both
go.

He's repeatedly blaming the players while seemingly accepting no
blame himself.
Dalrymple has defended him saying he's trying to work with
Wilson's plan. That may be so, but he was defence coach so
presumably had input into our defensive system, and that's our
biggest failure.
I really don't like what I hear from him. See to point the
finger at everyone but himself.

I think that can be said about several characters in this
pantomime tbh....

According to the 2021 article the Waratah’s conceded an average
of 56 points per game whilst Gilmore was their coach. How on
earth did that qualify him for the job as Defence Coach?

He sounds perfectly qualified in line with Quins’s recruitment
policy.

Knowing our track record of permanent head coach acquisitions,
he's probably in the mix. Never succeeded in a top job before
with no track record of turning round poorly performing outfits.
I can imagine if appointed, and as expected flops (as he's
actually seen us get worse) LD will then in 2027 tell us they
got it wrong

probably the cheap option - which seems to be how we recruit
coaches these days ...

While I do think more questions should be asked of Gilmore about
the defence in particular, I'd not be keen to take those Super
Rugby stats at face value - the Tahs squad was a lot worse than
the opposition because (as that article said) they chose to
spend vastly less money than the rest in order to stay a viable
concern. They already had a much weakened squad in 2020 and cut
it even more for 2021. So it meant they took a kicking every
week but they survived as a club. Franchise. Whatever. Then they
were able to regroup and in the next two seasons were the 2nd
best Aussie side behind the Brumbies. Nothing spectacular but
there's some nuance there I think.
So with respect, "no track record of turning round poorly
performing outfits" isn't really true. They went from
"under-strength side losing a lot" to "side absolutely gutted on
purpose getting drubbed by everyone" to "just about top half of
super rugby" in his first 3 seasons and the 4th was the same as
the 3rd. Which is most definitely some kind of turnaround.
