you may disagree but I don't think Kenners has pushed on as much
for us as I expected - from his breakthrough season, I
appreciate a bad injury prevented progression but I still think
there is more to come ........

No one has really shown signs of pushing on this last season or
so because the whole team is so crap. It's hard to stand out.
Even Marcus has gone so far back in this team he probably
wouldn't start in any other team. Until they fix the team, the
players aren't going to show what they can do.

Kenningham I think has just been affected by confidence. Playing
him at 6 worked last year but I think without such a dominant
tight 5 he's been more exposed as he's not a "heft player".
Of our younger players not kicking on..
Cleeves - Biggest disappointment for me. Seems to have lost that
yard of pace post injury. Not really "young young" anymore.
Handy as a back up but not an instant starter.
Bradley - Unsure why he was resigned, probably championship his
       level
       Hyde - As above

Purely an observation but that is a line that is used a lot
about Quins players. What's the opinion as to why they seem more
       prone than other teams?

Think the CEO covered it in the Times interview, but pathway
development and coaching turnover have probably been the biggest
       cause specific to Quins. [emoji17]

I think its the perfect storm of a lack of vision/direction
combined with probably poor coaching and an unhappy environment.
Maybe there's dressing room rifts/cliques also, as opposed to
just getting a bit down because results haven't gone our way. In
a nutshell I get the feeling (and its just my view)not many
players have a "buy in" to what they are being told, or how they
are being led. I saw a comment that said we look like 15 rugby
players on the pitch as opposed to a team, makes sense.

I don't see Kenningham as someone low on confidence. He shows
none of the hallmarks of it - he's not the guy making errors or
weird decisions. He's just someone who needs to be playing at
his absolute best to stand out, because he lacks many of the
gifts of his competition. He's not extremely quick, he's not a
massive bloke, he's not a huge hitter, and his hands are decent
but not amazing. He's not someone who can be a playmaker in his
       position.
What he is is an excellent all-rounder who at his best makes
more metres than you'd expect, is a very accurate high volume
tackler, and is a ridiculous breakdown threat. He is also a good
       lineout option.
I don't expect him to get any closer to England unless he
magically bulks up because I think he just has too many areas
where other players excel. I've been disappointed with him this
season but it's fair to say that I've been holding him to a
higher standard than most because in the past he's stood out
while we've been under the pump, and this season his breakdown
work is nowhere near what it was when WEv isn't on the pitch.
It's entirely possible he's just being more effectively targeted
       by opposition players.
When you watch someone like Guy Pepper - a genuinely huge guy
with massive workrate who is an absolute menace at ruck time and
carries & hits like a truck - you can see how players like
Kenners would struggle to break into the team. The England back
row is stacked with extremely physical players who all offer
something a bit special, which is why guys like Ted Hill can't
       get a look in.

Again, I’m treating this as a “no stupid questions” space so
this isn’t meant to be stirring. But previously Quins players’
lack of confidence has been blamed on how they have been treated
       by England.
       Is it really both reasons?

I believe that was you and me 😆 That was more
specifically Marcus Smith and the shunting around 10/15. Don’t
think I’ve felt the same for Fin Baxter, Chandler CS, Cadan
       Murley or Beard/Northmore.

I don't think that applies to Kenningham really though who was
       the player I've mentioned.
The only player it seems to drastically effect is Marcus for
obvious reasons about playing style/positional changes.
In terms of recent caps, Baxter's workrate hasn't suffered etc.
It may have been a reason in the past but this season I don't
think England can be blamed for Walker/David/Northmore/Porter
       etc all being sub par
