He has a year left on his Racing 92 contract, so sale are the
only club likely to buy that out.

Excuse my ignorance, but what are the rules to accessing medical
jokers and does the squad size/make-up you run potentially
impact this? Let's say you only have 3 hookers in the squad and
all of them are injured, would or could Prem rugby deny access
to a medical joker? I.e. you should have run with 4 in your
squad, you'll have to make-do with academy lads.
Whilst conceptually I can see the benefit of cutting fringe
senior squad players, having a slightly smaller first team squad
and placing greater reliance on the academy, it only takes an
unlucky run of injuries to a specialist/key position and you'd
be in real trouble.
If there is real flexibility in access to medical jokers, then
having a smaller squad but ringfencing some funds each year for
emergency short-term signings could be both economic and mean a
better quality of player.

The injury needs to be longer than 12 weeks.
THE LEVEL OF THE SALARY CAP
For the 2025-26 Salary Cap Year, the level of the Salary Cap is
£6,400,000 with the following credits and exclusions, which
means that Clubs can spend at least £7.8m plus an Excluded
Player Salary:
Home Grown Player Credits totalling £600,000 (up to £50,000 per
player) – designed to incentivise Clubs to retain home grown
talent;
EPS/International Player Credits totalling £400,000 (up to
£80,000 per player) – to cover player absence during
international periods;
Injured Player Credits totalling £400,000 – to allow replacement
players to cover for long term injuries;
One Excluded Player – whose entire salary is excluded from the
Salary Cap;
Unlimited education fund for players.

This was from Nik Simon in the Daily Mail today:
"Harlequins’ player recruitment has been limited while they
figure out their management structure for next season.
Former players Mike Brown and Nick Easter have offered to help,
while the CVs of Vern Cotter and Dave Rennie are also understood
to be circulating."

I would hazard that the reticence in the recruitment process is
both ways. Players may not want to commit to joining without
knowing who's going to be in charge.

I'd like to think the club will make a decision on next season
soon. It will be important to make sure someone has enough time
to already know who they want to keep, and what players to
target. What we don't want is to get to May/June, and then being
left with a lot smaller pool of players to potentially target
due to already penning deals elsewhere
