He could be the Chris Boyd figure to settle and then hand over
to a designated successor (a la Dowson/Vesty combo)
Would be a huge fan of that appointment.

Yes exactly.
Logically, the clubs most likely to be talking to him are
ourselves, Newcastle and Gloucester.
I’d like to think we’d be in with a good shout.

I suspect Red Bull can offer more cash than we can...

True. But.... Given Gregor is involved there, and he shafted him
to get his job, I doubt Cotter would do that.
If it comes between us and Gloucester, I'd make us overwhelming
favourites.

Good carrier, scrum has improved and I expect whatever vexed him
when leaving must have changed.

He'd be a good shorter term option (probably 2 year deal?). And
he'd have a World Cup squad place up for grabs so should be
suitably motivated. He always had decent hands at the line too,
which suits us. We could do a hell of a lot worse.

I think it depends on what kind of challenge he wants. My
frustration is that I think we’re maybe 3-4 signings and the
right coach away from being a very good side. For 64yr old, I
think we probably represent the biggest opportunity for a
relatively quick turnaround.
Newcastle is much more of a project. Gloucester is just a funny
club - there’s always been potential there but they never seem
able to bring it together (a bit like us … but worse).

Everyone is on about the loss of Esterhuizen,Louw,Marler,Care
but not a lot of noise about Collier who is smashing it in
France at the moment and also tonight against Bath. Could he be
tempted back for a season or 2 ? I think he still has so much to
offer as well as a future mentor for the youngsters coming
through.
