Back to the actual point, we (Quins) need to do something to
spark a change. I can’t see beyond making a statement and
Gilmore either goes or steps back, the only person with HC
experience is Booth so put him in for the short term (remainder
of season) then we need a proven coach to take the helm!
But clearly there are opposing views and it would be interesting
to hear what you would change without affecting the coaching set
up to change the outcomes on the pitch.

I don't think it would be entirely fair on Gilmore and also
unlikely to change anything for the better. I'd prefer we got a
new head coach or DOR to start in the summer, and let him choose
his coaches.

I agree on the fairness to Gilmore but just cannot think what
else we can do to change the dressing room, the team are
deflated and something need to change quick.
I also worry about who we bring in as we just don’t seem to get
it right.

Senior coach by default.
Defence coach by appointment.
And we’ve had 3 games in a row conceding more than 40.
That would be enough to give him the chop, even if I do think
he’s been good with the media and the mood post-Wilson has
improved.
So I would promote Booth for rest of the season, get a defensive
consultant in for the rest of the year.
Long term options are for another thread.

Whether its Gilmore's fault or not, we need to stop the rot. The
cost of inaction is likely worse in my view. There is nothing to
lose so make a short term change now and hope for a bit of a
bounce, and get a modicum of confidence back in the players
ahead of the new DOR coming in for pre-season.

Gilmore was stupid to say it out loud, but this season is gone.
No changes are going to fix that. Dumping coaches, appointing
some other random coach with time on their hands, firing
players... none of it is going to help. We have to treat it like
Newcastle have: assume we're at rock bottom and start to try to
build a team again. Don't assume that by just trying harder
we'll get back to winning, because the parts and the plan aren't
there, and nor is the confidence.
I don't think a three year plan, but we need a plan to
consolidate and build a core this season, then for next season
start with some good recruitment and a coach with a clear plan.

At least Toby Booth has had experience of being a Head Coach at
Ospreys & at Irish
