       Doom and Gloom

Just reading the board, the Match Thread, The Thread regarding
       Smith and then Gustard leaving.....
Why so downbeat? Yes, yesterday was poor. We should be looking
to win those games but as said, italian or not, Treviso are no
mugs at home. After last season it was never going to be an
overnight/quick fix. this isnt really even Gustards side!!!.
There has been good, there has been bad but in general, the side
is miles better than last season. You will always have moments
like yesterday creep back in, thats part of the changing
process. Would not surprise me if we suffer one or two more
days like yesterday this season, but plenty of good days also.
We beat exeter last week, the only side (up until Gloucs
yesterday) to manage that (and we have beaten Gloucs). 5th in
the table, Europe still in our hands (3 wins should do it).
Re Smith, as has been said, the kid is only 19. He is nothing
like Botica. He is learning, he will make mistakes. He will
also go on and become a top class FH for years to come but right
now he is struggling. Zero, no. a good youngster having a tough
time of it and probably a bit low on confidence. Likewise, the
Cat. A class player that suffered a terrible injury that could
have ended his career. its great he is even back playing but I
still think from watching, that there are a few mental scares
there regarding him having the ball expecting tackles coming in.
Hopefully he can sort that out.
As for Gustard, Tigers can ask all they want, he is under
contract. If we want to keep him we will, and he does not
strike me as someone who will jump ship and ask to leave.
Im not all "quins tinted glasses" and all that, i just say how i
see it. Yesterday was bad, its not the four horseman riding
over the hill type disaster though. Some real knee jerking
       going on in places.

I don't think it should be doom and gloom about the Challenge
Cup, the league is the most important competition for Quins this
       season.

The way the group is panning out, everyone is winning their home
games. If we do the same our 2 LBPs should see us top. Of
course, winning away in Agen will seal the deal!
While the league is priority, it would be nice to go far in
Europe. We are out of the Premiership Cup, so the Challenge Cup
and 4th (or 3rd?) are our aims.

I have great faith in Gussie to restore us as a top 4 side over
the next 2/3 seasons.Give him time to recruit new and ditch a
       few players and coaches.
I agree with others the league is key.Europe is a distraction.
       Steady the Buffs!
