Layout Update: A Cleaner, More Spacious Messageboard
   DIR By: Admin
       Date: December 31, 2025, 4:31 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
You may have noticed a few changes around the place recently.
Some things have moved, some have disappeared, and a couple of
new elements have appeared. These updates are all part of an
ongoing effort to reclaim as much on‑screen “real estate”
as possible so the messageboard itself stays front and centre.
To help achieve this, I’ve removed a few features that were
taking up valuable space, including the old calendars and the
dropdown links to other clubs and messageboards. I’ve also
cleared out a couple of sticky threads that were permanently
sitting at the top of the message list.
In their place, you’ll now see a small green “hamburger” menu in
the top‑left corner. This is just the beginning — over
time, this will grow into a full, tidy menu system that keeps
navigation easy without cluttering the page. The long‑term
plan is to move everything from the left‑hand sidebar into
this new system so we can eventually retire that sidebar
       entirely.
If you access the site on a mobile device using the full desktop
layout (rather than the default blue mobile menu), you’ll also
notice that both the left and right sidbars have now been
removed to give you more room for the actual posts.
More improvements are on the way as I continue refining the
layout and making the board cleaner, faster, and easier to use.
Thanks for bearing with the changes — and as always, your
       feedback is welcome.
One question. How much of the items in the left sidebar do
       people actually use?

Good work. Thank you. As I have AdBlocker (Free) installed I
often cannot make the bottom right "Go" button work after
posting or reading a message/thread, so have to use the "Come
All Within Board Messages" in LHS sidebar. Similarly, I assume
because of AdBlock I usually have to utilise the "Reply" button
instead of the "Quick Reply" space.
Appreciate your efforts as ever & Seasons Greetings![emoji1335]

Missing the button that allowed me to only see posts that had a
new comment since my last visit, any chance of it returning?

Also, remind me how to "Ignore" trolls again please?

       Hi Deadly,
When I want to get back to the message board from looking at
postings, I just click on this (which is top and bottom of the
       board).
       [attachimg=3]
I use Adblock plus (paid for) and the "Go" button works for me.
You'll find this method much easier anyway.
As for ignoring people, this from the FAQ
       Q. What if there's someone I wish to ignore?
       A. You may be better off trying to sort your problems out with
the person involved by using messages first of all or appealing
to the board moderator. However if you really don't want to see
the posts someone has made then add them to your "Ignore" list
(Profile/Buddies/Ignore List) then under Profile/Look and Layout
tick "Hide messages posted by members on my ignore list." To
ignore any personal messages from them goto Profile/Personal
Messages and change "Receive personal messages from:" to "All
members except those on my ignore list".

I can't really begrudge you the real estate that takes up (you
were fortunate it's just under the "hello user"), so enjoy!

It turned out I didn't need the "hamburger menu".
I have removed the sidebars left and right of the messageboard
       information.
I have added an item "Cmds, Links and FAQs" to the menu at the
       top of the board.
       [attachimg=1]
Click on the image to see clearly.
This should replace the left sidebar.
As usual plaudits, suggestions and criticism all welcomed.

       Hi DOK
It would be nice if the "squads/contracts/injuries" was a little
       easier to find.
I know that it can answer a lot of people's questions - like
When does Marcus Smith's contract expire - etc

Do you mean "easier to find" as in having a link somewhere else
on the board just for this or easier to find within the list of
       links?
If the former, I could add it to the same command list as "Cmds,
Links and FAQs" but to me that seems a little OTT (but then I
       rarely use it myself).
If the latter I could split the first block of links and so move
it up a little. However the rules of the forum must be the first
on that list of links. It is already item 1 on the second block
       of links.
Does anyone else want to weigh in (as well as never sleep, of
       course!) ?
