I also want to know how we’ve gone from LD saying only months
ago we were due to be break even to suddenly losing millions.
That needs an explanation.

I've not seen anything to suggest that the franchising will
increase income substantially. The proposed increases in income
aren't enough to break even for most clubs, if not all.

Now I'm not saying I think the best judges of Quins' performance
on or off the pitch are the denizens of this forum but you've
just stated that many of them predicted our poor season. In
which case I'd say the time to criticise is now. Otherwise you
are effectively saying that the club is being run by people with
less foresight than punters on an internet forum.
And if there's a lot of dead wood at the club, why hasn't that
been dealt with. That wood hasn't died in the last 4 months.

Perhaps I’d be a good CEO, I saw this coming about 2 years ago
when most still
were blaming the ref or were too busy with personal attacks for
my negativity
I promise I won’t go all David Ellis and try and focus on having
the stoop as a gig venue

How do you value a club - in this instance Quins?
You can look at the Balance Sheet, but then what are you looking
at? The entire group of companies, or individual subsidiaries?
And what about intangible assets? The Quins "brand" is arguably
impossible to value, and the land/buildings are at the mercy of
market forces - due yo our location, that's a good thing as it's
prime real estate.
Then there's the saying that something is only worth what
someone is willing to pay for it. Quins have been fortunate that
they have financial backing which, whilst not necessarily
endless, is seemingly not strained.
Then you have to ask yourself why someone would pay for a club
like Quins. I don't think the club is seen as a rich person's
toy, or an ego possession; I think it's just that the owners
genuinely love the club... and they know it's a good long-term
investment.
All in all, losses by one particular part of the Quins corporate
structure isn't necessarily the harbinger of doom that some seem
to be suggesting. It's a little bit more complicated than that.

The investors are subsidising the club to the tune of £6 million
a year (I took this from the last accounts).
Also taken from account is the part about the most significant
risk to income is the elite mens team but performing on the
pitch.
So, the owners, the board and CEO understand the impact of the
performance.
I think we should trust the guys putting their own money in to
choose the CEO.
Also, to answer MQ's question about losing money -- it looks
complicated as there is a random amount of £19 million that
isn't really explained in note #11.

On the other hand, AI companies are subsidised to the tune of
hundreds of billions each year and some people seem to think
those are good investments. By contrast, a rugby club is loose
change. [emoji13]

Your first statement is palpably untrue. What the rest of rugby
does affects Quins. Changing the salary cap affects Quins.
Changing the laws affects Quins. Playing games on a Thursday
affects Quins.
Based on several seasons' perfomance, there should already have
been a big drop off from casual ticket sales. But there is not a
big correlation for Quins between performance and ticket sales.
I wouldn't have thought the club could ratchet up prices much
more anyway, given we're the most expensive club to follow.

Maybe so, but do a side by side table of ticket price a current
table position. 😉
