I don’t think anyone at the club deserves an easy ride, I just
don’t think sacking the CEO will do much to improve matters on
the pitch any time soon. I would expect those that actually put
the money in influence what LD does. They’re very quiet so we
don’t have a clue on that front.
What LD does need to do is to communicate what steps are being
taken to remedy what is clearly an unacceptable situation and if
the answer is ‘nothing much’ then his position should definitely
be under the microscope.

It is the focus of the CEO that troubles me. I get the job is
the keep the club sustainable. I fully agree with it so the club
needs to make money, but do not ignore the core fan base and
take them for granted.
That is how I feel is happening to those that have been coming
to the club for the past 30-50 years.
Plus you cannot ignore the playing side. It is that which drives
the rest. If you have a successful side then casual supporters
will fill out Big Game and Summer Kick Off.
The advertising of BSKO at half time was embarrassing
considering the result at that point. Ithat will be a
ridiculously hard sell based on current form.
He projected a 600k loss for last season. It was in fact £3
million.
He has taken his focus off the rugby. The owners will only
financially support the club for a certain time before being fed
up and pull out. I don't want to see happen to London Irish also
happen to Quins.

It's the whole leadership of the club that troubles me to be
honest. Aside from LD it's not too clear who is in charge of
anything.
I agree with many of your points Dazza, it's just going to take
more than 'sack the CEO' if the board picking the new one don't
know their arris from their elbow either.

board? Or is it mainly the owners, the chairman and CEO?

There's a world of difference between giving someone an easy
ride, and believing random quotes that you've entirely
fabricated. I suspect most people are somewhere in the middle
ground.

The club has had the same owners since since 1997, so it seems
they have a large degree of patience regarding losing money,
London Irish had no potential to ever achieve even moderate
losses, and the owner gave up after 10 years, they did not own a
stadium which is the kiss of death for a rugby club.
With the likelihood of the league becoming a franchise, the
value of clubs may well increase substantially, and we are a
long way from being in the worst position.
We are having a very poor season, which a lot of people on the
forum realised before the start of the season, and effectively
this season is over, the time to criticise is if changes are not
made before the start of next season or if those changes are not
effective.
There is I believe a lot of dead wood at the club in both the
coaching team and the players, who probably should be let go,
and we desperately need a DOR and head coach who will give us a
style of play and a system much like the saints who with a shed
load of changes yesterday played the same way.
They have a coaching setup that has given them the confidence to
play that way, the last successful coaching setup when we had
was Conor O’Shea and John Kingston working together.
2021 was really a happy accident if we are honest for half that
season and half the following season.

This is all true, but we also had a very bad season last season.
Just not as bad as this season. And nothing was done to fix it.
I think a lot of fans lack faith in the ability or willingness
of the management to fix things, which is why we want to hear LD
talking about what changes the club is going to make. And, yeah,
I don't expect details where things are under discussion or
negotiation. Just an indication that they are taking it
seriously.

What we will never know, is how much the club knew about Wilson
going to Wales, if it was a surprise or if it was a known.
I suspect they must have known but when is the key point, if it
was late and they had expected Wilson to be around and had faith
in him still, it would mean that next season is the first
opportunity to implement change.
If they should have had faith in him is a different question,
but next season is the tipping point and it would be good to
hear that they recognise that we are in a deep hole and that
they have plans to dig us out of it, and that they will be in
place before next season is also a complete write.

They should also make it clear, who is responsible for what, in
particular on field performance and player recruitment, and
retention, and how that fits into the off field running of the
club, particularly around the budget for players and coaches.
