Big Games - is it really needed any more?

Apart from the club raising money, surely this has run its
       course.
2 home games a season where we give up home advantage of playing
       at the stoop.

It's needed to stop them having to double the price of tickets.

       Indeed. Narrows the losses substantially.

This is a huge overreaction - yesterday’s result was
disappointing but the day as a whole was still excellent

You have to look at the day as it seems to someone who isn't a
Harlequins (or Bristol) supporter. At the most they make up
what? 20,000 in total, if we're lucky. 60,000 people turn out
for a fun day out. They want to watch some rugby, sure, but they
want to be entertained and they don't care who does the
entertaining. They saw a good game yesterday, even if the
scoreline wasn't close. If there were no Mexican waves then
that's a lot better than some Big Games I've attended. There was
a decent selection of food, a good lightshow, booze if you
       incline that way.
The crowd would have been down because it's pre-Xmas not post.
Mark Evans' great idea was to pick the post Xmas period. The
shops are shut or full of sales. You've had the relatives since
before Xmas eve. You haven't been able to go out because of the
weather. You've seen the panto (oh yes you have!). What to do?
Oh yes, the Big Game! Let's all go and watch some rugby? Who's
playing? Don't know but it's always a good day out. The kids
loved it last year and they're doing my nut in!
Yes, we the fans prefer home advantage. The full house rocking
with The Mighty Quin. But honestly, we're still playing a home
match. It's just at a bigger venue. It's still ours! If the
players can't take pride in using the home of English rugby as
their home ground, then we're in trouble anyway.

Sorry, but reading Pat Lam's comments, I have to add yesterday
we were on a free to air TV channel. Would we have done that if
we were at The Stoop, no chance! And yes, while I doubt we
earned hundreds of supporters from yesterday, at least we were
       on TV and being watched.

We actually have a good record in the big games, so are we
       giving anything away?.
The money side is very important to the club, and no doubt
ticket prices would have to increase without the games, and
yesterday was depressing, but is indicative of the whole season
       really.
So yes we should in my opinion continue with the games, they
have nothing to do with our present situation.
We need to address the real problems around the coaching team
       and the players.

It’s mental to think anyone would even consider doing away with
the Twickenham games. When rugby is on it’s knees and almost
every club is struggling, why you’ll you not want to take
advantage of a huge financial opportunity?
We treat it like a second ‘home’ and our record in those games
is good, so the perceived loss of home advantage is an odd
reason to think of doing away with The Big Game/BSKO.

Yes, understand the money argument, which is why I was asking
       'apart from money'.....
If money wasn't an issue, do you think folks would be still
       happy with the BGs.
It was depressing to see our team perform so well the previous
week at the Stoop in the champions cup and then watch long
standing season ticket holders sack it off after 60mins at the
       Allianz.
Realise Briz were excellent but for me the lads looked out of
       sorts.
If money is the goal to reduce overall season ticket pricing,
then perhaps the goal should be to have all 'home games' at the
Allianz and sell the stoop to housing?
