Was it Bayonne who brought over their own mascot a few ago. A
horse or something

Yes! He was delightfully bonkers from memory. Had some good
banter with old Harley and Charlie.

Arm in a sling after the game.

He had played 20 mins of rugby by the time he went off therefore
fulfilling his contracted hours for the season.

Yes - also interesting to see him really leading our mauls. You
could clearly hear him communicating with the guys at the back
of the maul and the 9. Good to see.

Before the season began I had Petti and Treadwell as first
choice anyway so not too much of an issue. Lewies when he's
playing is a good player but you need consistency for selection
and with his injury record you never would get that. Second row
wise Launchbury is for me one of the biggest let downs, when he
joined us I thought we had a potential captain plus thought
would have been more motivated to perform to get back in the
England set up

Petti brings such an edge to the pack that we’ve been missing
since Symons imo. Thought Delgado showed up well too.

Yup, Petti and Treadwell both offer far more around the park
then Lewies. Treadwell has filled the role of first-up tackler
(previously held by Irne and Symons) nicely.
Lewies remains a very decent squad option for us when fit, and
is arguably our best lock in the tight.
With CCS a great option at lock and the load of back row options
we have, the team should be in a better position to cope without
Lewies then in previous seasons.

I think that Lewies is a pretty good leader on the field when
things are not going well.
I think we are generally a bit short of leaders in the pack -
especially if Dommers is not playing.
Luckily, yesterday, we didn't really need someone on the field
reading the riot act.
