Unlike many nominees over the years for SPOTY, she actually has
a personality, so that's a bonus.

Haven’t seen the nominees for team of the year but I’m guessing
the Lionesses will win it instead of the Red Roses as football
is always going to be more popular.

The Team award isn't a public vote, so it's actually on the
cards for the Red Roses to win. As long as it doesn't go to
McLaren

Given the very public support between the Roses and the
Lionesses, I wondered if there may be joint winners to celebrate
a Summer of Women’s sport

I do hope Ellie wins it - my daughter filmed a piece for the
nomination (hopefully she gave them something usable for the
show), and we'll be using anyone's phone and laptop we can find
on Thursday to vote.
Against that, I think this has been a really strong year - Rory
is favourite for a reason, and clearly Littler and Lando have
both had good years (I can't profess to have enough knowledge of
darts and F1 anymore to know just how good it was). The
Lionesses winning puts them in the spotlight as well, not sure
how Lucy Bronze wasn't nominated, but against Hampton saving
pens, and Kelly just being sort of iconic during the tournament
(don't forget, she did also win the Champions League this year),
I can see why those two are up for the title.
Can't see beyond the Roses though for Team of the Year. If they
DO win it, I think that will be an indicator that Ellie won't
win the individual award (a sort of "group consolation prize").

Quite fancy Rory McIlroy. Don't like the bloke much but quite
phenomenal achievements.
