I guess I'm in the minority here. I think Tyrone is too good to
be a regular bench player.

Nope, not true.
Quirke's entire career:
19/20 - 1 appearance, 0 starts (0%)
20/21 - 12 appearances, 1 start (8%)
21/22 - 15 appearances, 9 starts (60%)
22/23 - 18 appearances, 5 starts (28%)
23/24 - 15 appearances, 5 starts (33%)
24/25 - 14 appearances, 6 starts (43%)
25/26 - 6 appearances, 2 starts (33%)
Yes, he's had injuries. He's also been very inconsistent. Only
one season where he's been trusted to start more often than not
when available, otherwise he's been riding the pine.
When he comes back from injury he doesn't become first choice,
he still spends most of his time on the bench. That is a long
period of time, it's clear he is not the starting 9. Gus Warr is
the starting 9, averaging about 80% starts every season.
Maybe Quirke has a season where he stays fit and becomes a
regular starter at some point in the future. But the season he
made the most appearances - 2022/23 - is also when Gus Warr
became first choice, starting 23/26 matches vs 5/18, and Quirke
started very few.
Sorry, I know he's a talented player but the stats don't lie -
Sale don't swap around their 9s that much. When Gus Warr is
available, he starts the overwhelming amount of time. It ain't
rotation.

Stats don't lie but they don't necessarily tell the whole story.
Take that 2022/23 season. Raffi broke his wrist in the November
and in April '23 said:

In that time, Gus undoubtably stood up so Raffi had to win the
shirt back. If memory serves, at the time we were also playing a
more defence-led game (that may be the season where we had the
second lowest try BPs in the league). Now, we are more attacking
so Raffi's perhaps a more natural fit.
This may be my bias on show but my take is that most Sale fans
saw Raffi as the successor to Faf with a higher ceiling that
Gus. However, a string of injuries (and at times trying too hard
when he comes back) mean we haven't seen the best of him nearly
enough.

Yareet, yeah I think there's a difference between "circumstances
have held him back" and "he has fewer starts just because he's
been injured". I think the stats do give the context here: yes,
he's obviously played fewer matches because of injury, but he's
also made around 14-15 appearances every season which is a
decent chunk. And the vast majority of those have been on the
bench. That's far more appearances than our sicknote Lewies, who
usually starts when fit.
I'd love to see a fully fit and firing Raffi, but if that's a
hypothetical player that essentially has yet to materialise (as
you acknowledge), then we're just spitballing here and there's
no actual evidence to suggest he's sharing the shirt with Warr
instead of being a very obvious second choice. I was actually
surprised when going through the stats just how clear a
difference it was; I think we've all been bamboozled by his
early promise and assumed it was a case of Quirke grabbing
starts when fit, but it's clearly not happening. I do like
watching him so I hope he does stay fit and does manage to
develop into the player we all thought he'd be by now.
