Telegraph is reporting we've been talking to Furbank about a
possible move to The Stoop next season...

Interesting as Green extended this time last year, so you'd
assume that would have covered this season and next.
Wouldn't be against it and I think he would have the edge as a
starter. Also, id cut David and Anderson from the squad so Green
can have that bench spot covering FB/Wing potentially, with
maybe Sean Sharp from the academy pushing more

It's slightly odd, because except in international windows or
extreme injury scenarios, it's not really an area of weakness,
and during international windows, we'd expect Furbank to be
gone. Unless we're due to lose a back that I don't know about. I
still say we need more power in the pack and centres rather than
backs who aren't there for chunks of the season.
I mean, he's an excellent player and I wouldn't mind having him,
but an odd choice nonetheless.

An England capped 10/15 hybrid? If there's one team who doesn't
need one of those, it'd be you guys.
Also a strange time to leave Saints. They seem to be a close
group who are re-signing the bulk of their team (and coaches)
and are looking good at the moment

I personally don't think he will leave sants and feel it could
just be a bit of a tactic to get the best possible contract as
realistically at 29 would be his last big one, so what way
better to get the best deal then court interest elsewhere

greens hardly played this last 12 months, when he has he's not
seemed like his old self which is hardly surprising with the
lack of game time.

I meant from a contract perspective. He could still command a
fairly decent fee now, but if he signs a 2/3 year deal at 32+
he'd struggle to get another large Gallagher prem team wage. By
that time he might cash in for the France gig as I imagine post
WC a new player talent pool will exist

That was my initial thought but speaking to a uni mate who's a
season ticket holder there, they all think he's off.
They've got the salary cap space but not the real budget to pay
him.
In terms of Quins, I really rate him as a player. It does seem
to imply Green is off, which is sad to me as he's been
phenomenal in most of his 5/6 years with us, but he has lost a
step, he's regularly injured & he can now demand more money as
an EQP.
I've got mixed feelings overall, but if Green left and Furbank
came in, then it wouldn't be the worst outcome.

I suppose they've probably fallen victim to the England
contingent emerging which has all added value to their demand so
something would have to give if they are to keep the bulk, and
hes the eldest. (Smith, Mitchell,Dingwall,Coles, Pollock,
Davison)
