I'm not against having Feyi-Waboso in the England side. He's a
unique talent in what he does. Very fast, very strong, and makes
metres he absolutely shouldn't. But he also doesn't get involved
anywhere near enough. Maybe it's because England don't send the
ball out his direction very often, but also he needs (or needs
to be allowed) to come infield more often and cross to the other
wing. Right now, he's wasted.

I do think that's a tactical issue rather than a player one.
England were keen to kick to Roebuck's wing, and use both
players up the middle. IFW did end up with the most metres on
either side, and 6 carries v Roebuck's 8 isn't awful or
anything. He carried a ton against Fiji (11 carries, Smith had
12 and Earl 15) but not so much against Australia (6 again, much
less involved than the others). How much of that is simply down
to our relatively clear preference for kicking to the right wing
- and who's dropping back to pick up opposition kicks - is hard
to say.
I think we definitely want him popping up in midfield more
often, because that tackle evasion/breaking is freakish at
times.

So, I did the stats again. There’s not that much variation if
you knock out the weaker teams they’ve played (Scotland and
Wales in Argentina’s case), but limiting it to RC teams what we
get is:
Attack (carries per point scored): England 4.3; Argentina 4.0
Defence (tackle attempts per point conceded): England 13.4;
Argentina 4.4
I wasn’t too surprised by the attacking stats - Argentina and
England have similar kick chase strategies, which gives them
territory for very few touches of the ball. But Argentina’s
defensive stat suggests they will have a tough day at the
office.
I would expect both teams to record something out of line with
their usual stats on Sunday, because I think England will kick
possession to Argentina and look to shut them down more than
they usually do, precisely because of Argentina’s strength in
the air.
