Good to see Daly being selected on the basis of recent form…..

I get having one of Slade and Daly as otherwise it's a backline
without many caps. I'm not sure we needed both. Play Dingwall
(or Ojomoh) and Daly in the midfield for me.
Our bigger issue is that we have a gameplan based on having a
tall winger and both are injured. Daly is 4-5" shorter than
Roebuck or Freeman. Somebody like OLC could've come in (even
Caluori if we had not had to make as many backline changes
already) but they are so untested at this level.

Daly has been good for England recently, but with no gametime in
the last however long its been - a long time - this feels like a
bit of a risk as the squad has other wingers. Borthwick not
showing much faith in them, and they must be wondering what they
are doing there if there's no chance of them getting a game.

Don't agree with chucking players in after injury layoffs no
matter how much training they have had, i think it also cheapens
the position of those in the squad who got there on form. YES
Daly was good nick in the summer, but that's out of date. It's
not even a good like for like for Roebuck. I was half expecting
Steward moved to the wing with Marcus 15, and Daly covering 23

Daly's a better player than he gets credit for these days, plus
he's always been handy at Borthwick's kick chase tactics. Makes
sense that he got a shot.

I don't think anyone is arguing that he's not a good enough
player. Just that he hasn't played a competitive game for quite
a long time.
