I am pleased that he has extended.
But - I still wonder where we will see him play if everyone is
fit.
E.g. in the back row, I see Kenners+Wev+Dommers as starting.
Maybe he could dislodge Kenners, but this would be a bold move.
And - in the second row, I assume that Petti is a nailed on
starter.
So - he has to push Treadwell/Lewies for a starting place.
Also, I don't think it will do him any favours if we see him
moving around a lot - e.g. one week in the second row and the
next week at #8. He really needs a string of games starting in
the same position.
I do think he offers a lot when coming on off the bench. But, I
can't imagine him being happy as a bench-warmer.

Realistically we never have all people fit at once and even if
they are, rotation will ensure plenty of game time for those
performing. As an England squad member he'll have his time
regulated anyway.

First choice of:
4 Petti
5 CCS
6 Kenningham
7 Evans
8 Dombrandt
Sorted.
Something tells me WEv might move on when his next contract
renewal comes up though. That's not to say I want him to, but if
he did then we'd likely see Kenningham in the 7 shirt far more
often and then there's more of an argument to have CCS at 6.
Be interesting to see how Carr beefs up over this season too -
if he keeps adding timber then he'll naturally move into the row
I reckon.

This may be unpopular, but I think CCS starts above Dombrandt at
the moment. That's not to say I wouldn't have Dombrandt in the
team, I just think we're too lightweight - and would maybe go 6.
Dombrandt 7. Kenningham 8. CCS - harsh on Wev....

It's possible. He'll be 31 at the end of his current contract
(assuming it's 3 years) and may look for a payday in France. But
if Lawday and Chis retire at the end of this season (as seems
likely), and Carr and Schmid get senior contracts, that would
leave us with 6 senior back rows (plus three locks who can play
6), which is probably about the right number. But of those only
WEv and Kenners are recognised opensides, so I would expect
Quins to be hanging onto him and managing the players via
rotation to keep them fit and match the squad to the game.

Its a 23 man game though plus rotation, injuries, International
call ups etc...

Exactly this.
I think CCS would be the 1st choice lock and the 2nd choice 8.
Most important thing is that he's in the back 5 somewhere.

So if you're going to include Dombrandt anyway, why play him out
of position at 6, when CCS is a perfectly good option there?
6 CCS
7 Kenningham
8 Dombrandt
...has a really nice balance to it though and would work well
when we need to go toe-to-toe against the bigger back rows e.g.
Chiefs, Tigers, etc...
Also, not to be too flippant but of course CCS starts over
Dommers when CCS is the only fit player of the two! For me
though, Dombrandt is the first name on the team sheet when fit.
Every time Quins tick, he's the metronome setting the pace for
the rest of the team to work to.

Dombrandt's offloading game and all round rugby IQ is street's
ahead of CCS in my opinion.
At present I certainly see CCS as a lock/blindside where he can
focus on smashing people.
CCS is young and has plenty of time to develop, so we may see
him takeover as first choice 8 in a few seasons time.
So in any lock/back row combination Dommers is a shoe-in. CCS
will have known this when re-signing, and hybrid players is the
current trend, so I don't see him being too bothered about where
he packs down.
