       James Dun

Reportedly coming in from Bristol. Initially reported by

Makes sense with Lewies and Launchbury probably on their way out
after this season. Leaving us with Petti, Treadwell, Dun and CCS
as first team Lock options, that sounds pretty good.
Can't say I know much about him but consensus seems to be a good
       signing.

Would be a good signing for sure, from the sounds of it Briz
fans would be sad to see him go.
I think most would agree on the balance of probabilities, we
would probably get the same season appearances out of him as we
would Lewies and Joe combined. If we retain CCS hopefully, we
are probably fine at lock with Browne as an emergency option
(does need to bulk up a bit though).

My worry would be that he is a replacement for CCS, if he is not
then a good signing, if CCS is staying would he get more game
time with us than the Bears.

Would prefer that Joe Owen I on the way. He looks a real
prospect, quick and good in the lineout

To be fair if you think we will potentially loose Chisholm,
Lawday, Lewies and Launchbury for next season, having this guy
and CCS they both will probably contribute the same appearance
wise, and I think would be a smarter use of money going for a
       quality over quantity.

Dun would be a smart signing as 3rd/4th choice lock. If we want
to play fluid, attacking rugby then we need mobile locks and he
       fits the bill.
Agree that Launchbury and sadly Lewies are likely to retire
       and/or have their contracts non-renewed.
Lawday has been underutilised and Carr seems to have leapfrogged
him. I've always liked Lawday, but can see him leaving us.
I'd keep Chis. When he is fit, he's a destructive carrier and
we're not blessed with them. He's also Quins through and
       through.

Have to say, Lawday last couple of seasons has never let us down
when given opportunities. He invariably plays at times when
we're not at our strongest and often comes out with more credit
than anyone else. That being said, perhaps it is time to move on
and we probably don't need to carry him and Chis.

Lawday would be a standout performer for any championship club,
as would Chis, so they still have value. But with finances
involved, i think most would accept losing 4 players if it meant
we retained 1 star, and obtained 1 or 2 other better all round
performers who are more likely to challenge for 1st XV. Our main
problem has been we have a good "when everyones fit" XV, but the
drop off between a starting player and their replacement has
been a bit of a gulf.

Lawday is much better than championship standard. He's a quality
       Premiership player.
Chis can be a great player but he's never available.

If he were to come in as a replacement for any combination of
Lawday, Chisholm, Lewies & Launchbury, or all of them, I think
he's as good an option for that rotation as any. The problem for
me would be if he came in as a salvation, which I think we've
been looking for from a lot of our signings. Assuming we're a
6-2 bench from now on, if all of the above left and only he
joined that would leave us with an example back 5 combination of
       -
       Treadwell
       Cunningham-South
       Kenningham
       Evans
       Dombrandt
       Dun
       Petti
       Carr
A lot resting on how well Carr develops over the year.
