Benson and Kerr in England A squad

Sean Kerr clearly very highly thought of by Mapletoft and the
hierarchy. Hope he’ll show why for us very soon. He was great
for the u20s, but only had a couple of moments for our 1st team.
Jamie Benson probably more indicative of the drop off after the
current trio and the ghost of Owen Farrell.

A lot more premiership experience in the forwards compared to
the backs - says a lot about the depths of talent we have in
English rugby by position and what we clearly prioritise in age
group rugby.

Is Dommers on standby for the main team? I’d have thought
England A was the perfect place for the fringe players.

The squad seems to be a slightly odd mix of players who are
probably next cab off the rank if there's an injury to the main
squad (ojomoh, radwan, roots etc) and then blokes like kerr,
sodeke and Michelow who are nowhere near even their clubs
strongest xv,so it's kind of hard to work out what exactly they
are going for here.
I've got no idea what kind of strength the opposition will be
but it's kind of odd to see a fair few of the players from the
summer tour not involved (unless they are all injured).

Kerr I imagine is only there for experience and his age group
exploits have kept him on his radar, as based off his senior
appearances so far he is no way ready, but it is still a bit
bizarre. Benson deserves it though but I imagine for a start
Atkinson will get the nod

I know this is only the A side, but when was the last time a
ex-Cambridge University 10 played for England?
I guess it was Squeaky in the amateur days, though he played as
an undergraduate.

No quins in the team. Must be the first time for a while

Think Caluori and Hall are lucky, Radwan unlucky. Not sure Hodge
is a serious option, he's an absolute crowbar and if Hendy is
fit I'd rather see him or Carpenter at 15.
