Scotland v USA. Scotland 45-0 up at half time… I know these
games are important but so so little will be gained from this
game for either team.

I was about to say no as reg 8 states that:

But I read your question as being eligible but not having played
- ie stays in Japan for 5 years but doesn’t play for Japan and
then moves to France.
That player couldn’t (I believe) start to play for Japan despite
having completed a 5-year residency.
But could (I think) if they’d lived in Japan for 10 years.

Freeman was very effective, though after he dummied he really
should have been fighting for an offload to put IFW away.
Unfortunately this was more like England in the 6N than on tour,
a lot of kicking. Steward could barely catch a thing and Ford
put in quite a few poor kicks too.
The bench had huge impact, Curry was melting people, Pollock did
what he does, LCD was a menace, and Spencer improved the kicking
game and didn't have Mitchell's passing errors either.
Thought Pepper at 6 was busy without being outstanding, and
Underhill the worst of the back rows. Earl excellent. Chessum
was a bit of a disappointment to me. Baxter tackled his heart
out and a good scrap in the scrum but got isolated too often.
Really I'm only disappointed by Steward, Chessum, Dingwall, and
Ford. And that's a big win over an Australia side that has been
improving rapidly.

I don’t think there will be many if any changes. If I had to
have one I think I would put Lawrence at 12 for Dingwall to see
how he goes with Freeman

Not sure who's injured but I'd prefer Ojomoh and Lawrence over
Dingbat and Freeman.

Ojomoh is class but Lawrence really does make a ton of mistakes
for England (and miss tackles)

Watching Ford and Steward chase back after Potter for the
interception was hilarious - not an ounce of pace between them.
I thought Australia were extremely poor, England won very
comfortably with the sole tactic of box kicking off 9. Borthwick
will be happy with the convincing win, but I’m not sure many
will have headed home from Twickenham thinking that was a good
game.

I thought it was A+ for defence, B- for attack.
There was more than just box kicking (pretty sure Ford kicked
more than Mitchell, anyways), but the change to outlaw
shepherding has made kicking an attacking weapons for those with
good chasers, which England have. The passing was disjointed,
but the team had only been together a week and the conditions
were grim at times.
And any Tier 1 game that features a try from a 30m rolling maul
will hold a special place in my heart.

That was not the plan for the kicking law changes.
The purpose of the World Rugby law changes related to
"shepherding" or blocking players during kicks in open play is
to reduce "kick tennis," create more space for counter-attacks,
and increase the overall ball-in-flow time.

The biggest cheer of the day was for the punch up at the end,
that says a lot. I'm still not sold on Pollock but the pick up
for the try was exceptional but he didn't really get tested in
defence.
The Aussies were poor in the second half and had England had the
ability to go for the jugular in attack, it would have been a
much bigger score.
They have to vary it though, keep kicking off of every phase and
the ABs will tear them to shreds. Had the feel of a first game
of the season about it otherwise.
From a Quins point of view, Baxter played very well and the bomb
squad is only effective if the starters have done their job,
which they did.
We still missed some grunt in the carry though so Martin & CCS
will probably come back in when ready.
