I presume you typed that while walking from the office talking
to someone as Atkinson is injured!

From the last Argentina test, I think the only one available is
Spencer to be fair

Nope - Willis, Spencer, Slade are all available. It's only
Atkinson who's not.
Ford is going to be playing with a completely different set of
players immediately around him. The continuity argument does not
hold water.

Yep, wasn't aware. But that doesn't change the facts - there is
no continuity from the summer regardless of who plays 10,
because of so many changes in the key positions around 10. They
chose not to start Spencer or Slade or Willis, and Atkinson
isn't there, so it's an entirely new core anyway.

This idea of Marcus being a “maverick” ie flashy is overdone. He
is a creative player who challenges organised defences.
Also he has been subject to a pretty vicious negative and unfair
campaign by certain sections of the press and many comments on
rugby articles reflect this.
Having said that flair players are often treated with suspicion.
Finn Russell has had his fallouts but is now a magnificent
player.
I do think Marcus will struggle under Borthwick who it seems
would be happy with 12 forwards in the team.

I saw some amusing comments on the BBC after the Newcastle game.
Strangely negative, calling Marcus a show pony, flat track
bully, can't tackle, can't defend, can't perform against the
stronger teams. They seem to ignore the game two weeks previous,
against Saracens.

Stupid people will say stupid things. I suspect many of them
don't even watch rugby.

They are also saying that Slade is the best 13 in the prem and
that Ford can tackle and that Steward is a great Fullback in
comments on there at the moment, also that Marcus thinks he
should be picked because he plays for the right team.
Combination of People who don’t watch rugby, people who do and
can’t see past the club they support and people who just don’t
like England.

To be fair, Slade is having a good season so far.

Excuse me! We'll have no fairness on this forum! [emoji1]
