I couldn’t give less a of a $h!t about Saracens but from a Quins
and England POV this is very bad news.
In terms of physicality and carrying ability, CCS is the closest
to being a like for like replacement. With his contract up at
the end of the season, he’s just become even more valuable and
will presumably want to focus on playing 8 which very probably
rules out the prospect of him staying with us.

The french media has said 3 years but nothing directly from BB.

It's difficult as an outsider to judge. The "he's gone for the
money" is an easy one to level at players.
There is sporting merit in this move too. He's going to play for
the European champions and test himself against the best players
in the best league. Bordeaux is a big step up from Sarries or
any prem team.
International rugby has historically been the pinnacle of the
sport but this is under serious challenge. The RFU need to wake
up, and start funding the prem, who supply their players,
properly.

Well it's a limited pot of money, what do you want them to stop
funding? If it was me I'd stop spending quite so much on the
women, but that would affect the LTIPs so probably won't
happen....

The womens game costs the RFU about £12 million pounds a years,
and will break even by 2030, and too ignore 52% of the
population seems wrong, and it is the biggest growth area in the
game.
The RFU give the prem £33 million pounds a year, giving more
could just create higher wages and makes the clubs beholden to
the RFU and you could have a Welsh regions type of problem
before long.
The answer long term is to make clubs profit making and increase
the clubs income, and push up wages that way.
And is Willis really that much of a loss, a good carrier into
heavy traffic, but often seems unable to exploit the breaks he
makes.

I don't blame a player for moving away from Saracens. [emoji1]
But, yeah, it's a bit embarrassing that England finally seemed
to have settled on an 8, and he ups and leaves the country.
But players' careers are short. If he can do better for himself
in France, good for him. I guess coming back to England didn't
turn out the way he wanted.

I'm not concerned about Sarries, but it's a shame for the league
to lose its better players.
Is he focused on playing 8? I've heard this mentioned a couple
of times but is it known? His USP's are his physicality and his
versatility. Every top class international team needs a few
hybrid forwards, and in a crowded field the latter gives him an
edge in selection.
He looks more heir appparent go Courtney Lawes for me. I don't
see him playing multiple positions for Quins as being a
negative.
Appreciate CCS himself might have a different take!

You would defund the fastest growing part of the sport that has
potential to earn quite a bit of money in the next few years?
