Mine is really the wider squad, i personally don't think there
is enough quality in depth, or players to really push to start
and keep those in the first xv really looking over their
shoulder. I don't think the academy this year has any genuine
bolters either, although next season we will see more of Friday
etc.
It may be unpopular, but I'd take back Lynagh over Isgro. Isgro
is a good player, and an international, but I think he is
somewhat a luxury. He is fairly inconsistent and when it goes
wrong for him, it can go very wrong. Lewies i'd certainly move
on, along with Chisholm, David, Els, Lawday, Launchbury, Jarrod
Evans, Walker, Titi...
As a straight choice though, i think a lot of it is coaching, so
I'd move on the coaching staff more mass lay offs, but I think
most wouldn't be too upset with my list above anyway if they did
move on

I have read the Ruins (Runes) and feel better knowing that we
will train well this week.
On a more serious note, why did both sides at times eschew
trying to catch the ball?

One thing I would point out that I haven't seen mentioned here,
I was at the game and it was incredibly wet and windy blowing at
Quins in the first half but at half time the rain and wind just
stopped - and I mean completely. Chiefs had a huge advantage
with that in the first half and Quins never got that at all in
the second half.
I don't think it would have changed things because Quins had one
of those days (some of the errors were schoolboy - a few times
nobody even attempted to catch some high balls) and Chiefs were
very good, especially after scoring the two tries close
together, both the team and the crowd got their tails up.

To wake up and see Fin rolled out to try and justify that
rubbish (where’s the captain?) and a highlights package titled
“Quins performance not enough” is indicative of the problem.
Where’s the straight talking. “Quins performance simply not
good enough” would have suggested some acceptance that the club
has big problems.

I get that - but, I don't think that you can pin that result on
Chisholm, David, Els, Lawday, Launchbury, Jarrod Evans, Titi.
They weren't there yesterday and wouldn't have made any
difference to the result. It was our senior "good" players who
struggled yesterday.
And - Lynagh has gone. He now plays for Italy. You can't force
him to come back.

The thing has concerned me the most over the last two seasons is
our complete inability to unlock defences with phase/structured
attacking play. The first half this season against Bath showed
some glimpses of that (mainly the first 10 minutes), but even
going back to last year a lot of our tries were either from us
living off scraps or from short-range huffing and puffing.
Even in awful conditions yesterday, Exeter were able to play
confidently with ball in hand, find the edge a couple of teams
and make significant yardage off first and second-phase ball,
but I can barely think of an occasion recently when we've posed
a significant running threat.
The obvious difference is Andre moving on, as someone of his
size and skillset is always going to fix defenders and create
space around him, and I don't think it's a coincidence that
we've played our best attacking rugby since then with Waghorn at
12 - we frankly need someone who can pose a physical gainline
threat to allow Marcus to control the space around him. And with
him out until at least xmas, I can't see anything changing. We
are, sadly, not a fun team to watch at the moment.

I couldn’t agree more about there being no leadership on the
pitch, I think a lot of the time we rely on Marcus to win us
games and when as happened yesterday he along with all the backs
had a shocker we get well and truly hammered.I also agree the
squad as a whole is nowhere near strong enough and our backs are
all very similar. After losing Andre we don’t seem to have a
centre who can bully the midfield and make wholes in the
opposition midfield.we have become a team that is easy to beat
when the going gets tough,hardly anyone wants to roll up their
sleeves and make a difference.Sadly it has taken me sometime but
I agree our coaching is not good enough and as others on here
have mentioned as probably become to cosy. As for retention and
recruitment I feel it is if not the worst in the league it would
be very close to being the worst, so whoever is in charge of
that should be the first out the door. We have too many old
players and injury prone players who should have been moved on
in the summer. It’s hard to believe how quickly this club has
regressed after the stunning Bristanbul and the title win. It’s
time for Laurie to earn his money and make the difficult
decisions which need to be made all over the club !

Heads need to roll and it's clear that Laurie Dalrymple is now
in the firing line. This is happening on his watch if he can't
get to grips with the situation it's well time for him to move
on.
He may have a dislike for Steve Diamond however there is no one
else available to take the Director of Rugby role.
Clearly the current coaching set up is not working.
Dalrymple it's simple - Shape up or Ship out.
Yes we may well get a win on Saturday - will prove nothing as
fail against the next stronger team again.
The win two weeks ago was good however Saracens were clearly not
at their best judging by their last performance against Sale.
Action is needed now.

I know we are all experts on this Board, but all seem to agree
that something needs changing - it's just how and when this can
be done as we are only 3 games into the season......
This season could end up being a write-off with any meaningful
changes only being made for next season ........

I don't see the point in hitting the Panic button.
Having a mass clear out of the coaches and 1/3 of the squad
would set us back years.
We need a new Head Coach. We all know this.
There is no point rushing into getting one. If we rush and get
one now and then we still lost the next few away games, then the
new coach (however good he is) will immediately be under
pressure.
The new coach then needs to work out for himself what players
and coaches are needed. E.g. there is no point in getting rid of
NEv and then finding that the new Head Coach wanted him to stay.
Or getting rid of loads of players and then have to forfeit
games as we don't have enough squad. Maybe a new coach would
come in and think that Titi is exactly the player we need and be
able to get the most out of him.
But, it should be the choice of the incoming coach.
Yes - we lost a game. It hurts. It is the first game this season
where we were rubbish for pretty much to full 80. We clearly
weren't prepared for this game and we just didn't control the
conditions. The coaches should analyse the game and then draw a
line under it and move on.
It shouldn't be a surprise that Rob Baxter (a coach with loads
of experience) with good knowledge of the local conditions came
up with a plan to beat a team without a head coach.
