Great news if true. If it means money used from Chisholm/Lawday
it will be well spent for his contract. With Schmid/Carr etc we
aren't too light on back row options either, and with the amount
Chisholm/Lawday feature for us whilst both great servants of the
club time to look to the future, if it uses we use the salary
       cap more wisely.

Would be excellent news if true. Slightly surprised given the
number of players he's competing with but we must have given
reassurance that he has long-term starting prospects and a
       healthy payrise to boot.

       Statutory notice:
       1) The vast majority of early season stories about "team x is
interested in player y" are planted by agents talking up a
       player ahead of contract renewal
       2) RugbyPass has some excellent content, but when it comes to
player movements it's only marginally more reliable than the
       Rugby Paper.

But by the law of large numbers will sometimes be right.

I started writing Ruck and then thought it was a bit of a low
       benchmark...

This would feel like a coup to keep him after the exodus we've
had lately. I was already resigned to him following Jibs up
north - but to nail him down for another few years would be a
       major statement of intent.
Even if I still believe he's been a little hyped up to now (he
could benefit from some of those grippy Andy Goode gloves) he's
definitely one of those players who has star potential and his
versatility across the back five of the scrum has looked really
promising this season - would be a huge asset to us moving
       forward.
It also leads me to wonder where he sees his best position. I
wonder if the sweetener was promising to develop him into the
next Maro? He's seemed to enjoy his outings in the row and he's
noticeably improved at lineout time so far this season... and
maybe that's where he sees his long term future.

Personally, I think developing him as a hybrid lock/blindside
makes the best use of his physical attributes, and frankly that
would suit Quins down to the ground given we have Dommers.
CCS, Dommers, Petti, Chis, Treadwell and now Carr gives us a
nice mix of beef and mobility. And Kenners physicality is often
       underrated too.

Yeah, I would not be surprised to see Carr employed in the
second row too. Suddenly we have something we've been lacking
for a while - some big, aggressive lumps who give us additional
lineout options and won't give an inch in both the loose and the
tight... and they're young EQP too.
Still would have loved to have beaten Saints to the JJ van der
Mescht punch, but I know recruiting terrifying, man-eating South
African locks is way too much to ask for as a Quins fan.
