That's more like it. I think we outsmarted Sarries as much as
beat them up. The variety of kicks had them confused. But our
pack really stepped up with the Argentinians added. Everyone
looked up for it.
Farrell, though, was pretty good and caused us some problems.
Not sure why they're playing him at 12, though. He's not a 12
and never has been. It's like sticking Marcus at 15. Sure, he
can play there, but he's better in his chosen position.

Oh yeah. And I think Benson has proved that he should be our
back-up 10. He was much better than Jarrod Evans has been this
season.

I'm still picking Dommers at 8 when fit.
I might be controversial here, but I think lock might be his
best position long-term. He brings huge physicality, but for me
he's better without the ball than with it. He lacks awareness of
his surroundings at times, he'll try for the extra yard when
there's no support, or lose the ball in contact, and his
offloading game isn't at the required level for a team who want
to play fast.
I'm being ultra-picky here, and in a lot of ways it's exciting
that he's this good already but still has loads to work on.
At lock, he can focus on smashing the opposition and being a
nuance
Still, with Chis out great to have the flexibility to play him
at lock, blindside or 8.

And I never thought he worked that well at 12. For England it
was not having a specialist 12 and wanting to have Farrell on
the field. I'm not sure it was ever a great strategy, though.

Yup. J Evans had his chances against Bath and Tigers and blew
it. Benson is the future. Better of giving him minutes when we
have the option, either at 10 or 12. It's a cliche, but Benson
looks like an old head on young shoulders.

It worked far more often than at 10, where he was usually a
crashing disappointment. His England career performances have
not matched the legend even a little bit, but there are at least
plenty of good performances at 12 to go with the poor ones. His
good England performances at 10 are far harder to come by and
he's never been as good as Ford there.
In other words, I totally get where you're coming from but
Farrell the England 10 is a much worse proposition than Farrell
the 12.
I think England would be fools to abandon the likes of Dingwall,
Lawrence, Atkinson etc now anyway for the 6-18 months of dubious
benefit from a man who really has not had sustained quality at
international level for some years now

Wasn’t he also 12 for the 2017 Lions?
