Harlequins have made two changes to their starting XV for their
Round 2 Gallagher PREM fixture against Leicester Tigers on
Saturday (KO 15:05, live on TNT Sports).
The Quarters’ changes for the trip to Mattoli Wood Welford Road
both come in the backline. The first is in the centres as Jamie
Benson is preferred to Sean Kerr, who retains his place in the
wider matchday squad.
The second comes out wide as Cadan Murley misses the trip to the
Midlands as a precautionary measure with Cassius Cleaves named
on the left wing.
Jason Gilmore has selected an unchanged pack for Saturday’s
fixture as Fin Baxter, Jack Walker and Harry Williams pack down
in the front-row.
Chandler Cunningham-South is paired with Kieran Treadwell in the
row once more. Jack Kenningham and Will Evans start at blind and
openside flanker, with Alex Dombrandt leading the team from the
base of the scrum.
Will Porter and Jarrod Evans continue in the half-backs, Oscar
Beard joins Benson in the midfield, with Nick David, Tyrone
Green and Cleaves selected in the back three.
On the bench, Titi Lamositele is set to make his return from a
lower limb issue which has kept him out of action to across
Quins' pre-season preparations. Sam Riley comes into the squad,
while Simon Kerrod also returns to action for Harlequins from a
lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Jonny Green, Zach Carr and Max Green retain their spots as
impact players, while Sean Kerr and Cameron Anderson complete
the matchday 23.
Senior Coach, Jason Gilmore said: "We're looking forward to
getting back out on the pitch and building on our performance
from Round 1. Leicester play a pretty similar style to Bath -
they're a 'squeeze' team. They'll go to the aerial game, prey
off penalties to gain field position and use their forward pack
to be direct off the set-piece.
"We showed plenty of positives and last week, which we've got to
take up another level for the duration of the match and if we do
that whilst making a few tweaks in defence we'll be in a good
position to get a result."

Maybe a slightly stronger bench than last week, but still
understrength. Probably the best we can do with who's available.
We can definitely do without Murley being injured, though.

Definitely not one where we're going to be trucking it up
judging from the size of the backline [emoji16]

Lots of pace and ball playing ability in the backline but the
forwards - especially the bench forwards - will have to front
up.

We are now hanging Benson out to dry at 12, he looks a good
prospect at 10, we really should have got a 12 from somewhere
with some experience, there are Champ teams with better inside
centres than us at the moment without Waghorn.

I wonder if Benson is to improve our goal kicking return from
the first game? jEV is good with ball in hand but his kicking is
poor off the tee, and the weather might well impact that more as
where Benson is pretty good. Let's hope Murley is just a
niggle...

Benson played a fair bit of rugby for Cambridge (rugby not uni)
when he was on loan there at 12 in the championship

Jarrod was generally crap last week, maybe Benson being there
will help but it's a disaster that we're playing him at 12 coz
we don't have any centres.

While I tend to agree that we need a proper 12, having two
ball-playing 10s at 10 and 12 is a legitimate way of playing. It
will mean that the pack have to make more dents than they tend
to. In some ways, Dombrandt is probably going to be doing the 12
job on the gain line.

Not being negative did they not come bottom losing 19 and
winning 3 and having a minus 641 points difference.
