This close to the season there probably isn't any realistic big
names we can suddenly bring in so Booth is not a terrible
appointment but will be judged after a few games to see if we've
got any better game management in us.
Although this really is on the powers that be. It was clear to
most towards the end of last season Wilson was already a busted
flush and it should have set alarm bells he was even considering
helping Wales on a temp basis, so the smart thing would have
been to cut ties in May, not September. Also on a permanent
successor there's a lot riding on it, as pretty much most of
their picks have been bad.

That is easy to say as a not season ticket holder.
Terminating his contract early would have involved a payout.
Season ticket holders would need to carry the cost of it.

If we had cut ties, would have been paying him, as it is Wales
are paying us.

Quite. And what sort of message does "cutting ties" send to
potential replacements? "We'll happily sack you rather than give
you the opportunity to gain international experience" is not
exactly a motivational message to attract an ambitious coach.

I'd have gotten rid of him long before Wales came calling
anyway. I'd have got rid of him around Xmas if i had my way
whilst most still seemed to think he was worth keeping on to see
if he could improve things, but hindsight is wonderful

I think all ticket purchasers would share the cost.

Pretty much.
Interesting that Gilmore is the ‘Senior Coach’ and not Booth who
has been announced as ‘Forwards Consultant’.

Sounds rather like Booth was happy to come in and help but isn't
keen on the top job long term, but that Gilmore is interested in
throwing his hat in the ring for the position. Rather than
simply put him in permanently now, he gets time to prove if he's
a good fit for the role while being the "senior coach", while
the club keep their options open and can still talk to other
interested parties over the next 6/9 months before making a
final decision. I'm not unhappy with that.
