Good for England grabbing Lee Blackett. England's attack has
been weak until this summer's tour, and finally they've realised
that and are fixing it. Obviously I'd like him for Quins, but
there was no reason he would want that.

But I'll counter that with the 36-3 drubbing you dealt us at the
Stoop in 2023 (under Wilson). That season, we went on to finish
3rd and I don't remember many people in the June saying how
disappointing it was that Quins thrashed us. They did in the
November when it happened but not once the season could be
looked at in the round.
My point being individual games are seen in the context of the
season as a whole. As fans we tend to pick out the narrative
based on how successful we perceived the season in total. So
saying it's not about where you finish is (to my mind)
fallacious.
Had Quins played exactly the same way last season, it is
perfectly possible that you could have finished Top 4. We beat
you by a point at our gaff. That win plus one other (and I seem
to remember there were a couple of close games) would've put you
up there.
And this summer would've been all about how you did the double
over Saracens. And if Wilson is taking the hits for the Sale
game, he also has to take the plaudits for that achievement.
If the criticism of Wilson is also (not from you, I appreciate)
that the number of tries scored has dropped, it would seem an
odd choice to promote your attack coach. One could use those
stats to argue that his star is on the wane.

This site is full of people (including me) who are glad to see
Wilson gone, and yet he keeps getting good and high(er) profile
jobs.
We dont get to to see him in action day to day so he clearly
must bring a lot that isn't apparent to us the keyboard
warriors.

I think the theme of his career is that he's a great "on the
grass" technical coach that struggles to be a head man.
So him getting the Wales job having done well at Scotland isn't
that big a surprise.
It would have been a surprise for him to be successful as a head
man here, given that there was no evidence of it at Glasgow.

Wilson has not really achieved any consistent success as a coach
since leaving Cardiff, judged on Glasgow and here, he is a poor
coach, one off success is not a sensible measure to judge by and
the fact that they were early on as head coach, would indicate
that the team declined over his tenure.
Nick Evan’s was wanted by the RFU after he helped out with
England coaching so that would suggest he is more than
competent, also the head coach will decide the strategy to
employ and the assistant coaches have to follow that to a large
degree.
We have lost key players in the front row and at 12, and did not
replace them, again that reflects badly on Wilson.
The club held on to Nick Evan’s when he was wanted by England,
but held the door open for Wilson.
Looked at in the round Wilson is not an effective coach, and
created an environment of failure, And frankly spoke nonsense
around plans and learnings, none of which came to fruition.
The simple question around him is did he improve the team, also
we are a bit like Buzz lightyear if we fall we want to do it in
style, so I can live with losing but if we do let’s play
attractive attacking rugby, and allow our best players the
freedom to express themselves.
I would let Nick Evan’s have the season if he wants the job and
see where we go.

In some respects like Kingston. For a specific focus will do
fine. Given a broader job, simply cannot hack it

I would also go for Nick Evans - No question.
As was mentioned earlier England were very keen to have him in
the set up.
He is also much loved by most of us who remember him as a player
- A club legend indeed.
However the fact that he hasn't taken the job before may mean
that he doesn't want the top job.
As it seemed the chance was there.
He is a couple of years younger than George Skivington at
Gloucester.

This report nails it for me. Wilson is no loss but the way it’s
happened is bad form. Good riddance.
