I'm not sure he will have known for that long if this is a Tandy
appointment. He was only announced in July and left Scotland on
31st August. There will probably have been conversations before
Tandy started at Wales but I doubt there was much official
before the last couple of weeks.

Good luck to him, personally think it was just a matter of time
before he 'went'. Hopefully whoever gets the chalice will do us
proud......

Only the WRU will really know, but Tandy was rumoured to be the
incoming coach for some time before he was announced, and Dave
Reddin is alleged to be authorising the appointments, I would
still imagine it is not all as last minute as is being stated,
like any job may have been hammering out the terms and
conditions, in particular his severance payment for when they
sack the coaching team.
But let’s be honest we are better off without him.

Wilson joined Harlequins as a lineout and contact coach in
January 2023 and was appointed head coach ahead of the 2023-24
season, but was seconded to Wales for the two Tests against
Japan this summer.
The former Cardiff Blues and Glasgow Warriors boss will now
return to take on responsibility for lineout and contact areas
on a permanent, full-time basis, starting with the visit of
Argentina to Cardiff in November.
Wilson has previously worked with Tandy as part of Scotland’s
backroom team during the 2019/20 international season.
Tandy said: “I’m delighted to welcome Danny to the team on a
permanent basis. I’ve worked with him before when we were both
with Scotland, and also during his time at Glasgow Warriors. He
is an outstanding coach.
“This is a really exciting time, and I’m grateful to Danny for
accepting the challenge to share in this experience. We can’t
wait to get started together preparing for the autumn.”
Wilson said that it wasn’t an easy decision to leave the
Twickenham Stoop, but it’s a huge honour to have been asked to
join Tandy’s coaching staff.
“This has been a really tough decision for me to make as I have
thoroughly enjoyed my time at Quins, but the chance to join
Wales and return to international rugby was simply too good an
opportunity to turn down.
“Having the opportunity to experience international rugby again
for the interim period with Wales this summer in Japan was a
huge honour.
I’m delighted to be able to return on a permanent basis and to
work again with Steve and this exciting group of young players,”
said Wilson.
“Danny is a great addition to our coaching team and brings a
skill set that is very complementary to Steve’s. I’m excited to
see the focus and detail he will bring to the role and the
positive impact he will have on our game.
“We continue to work systematically to recruit Steve’s
assistants to form the platform for the long-term success of the
men’s national squad,” said WRU Director of Rugby and Elite
Performance, Dave Reddin.

He has worked hard, and yes, he does deserve thanks. We
shouldn't be that mean-spirited, but I agree. I am pleased to
see him grow.
Time for Evans to step up to the role, in my eyes.

As ever, I’ll ask at the start of last season, which teams would
have expected to finish below you that were ultimately above
Quins in the league?
Bath? Leicester? Sale? Bristol? Gloucester? Sarries?
Which of those teams had a squad of players that was
demonstrably worse than Quins?
Last season, there seemed to be 7 Top 4 teams and Saints were
becoming one once Mitchell came back.
That would be reflected by 2 wins covering the points difference
from 3rd to 7th.

Timing really really stinks.
But moving on...not sure we're in the same position at the post
Gustard thing in terms of the motivation for a "bounce".
It all seemed very cosy (perhaps too comfortable and cosy) in
the dressing room, when maybe what it needed was someone to put
a fire in people and question some of the senior players about
their lack of leadership (sum total of zero across the whole
pitch last season.).
So I do worry that the existing coaches (much as I love Evans
and Jones) have been around a long time. There does come a point
where you've tried everything in one environment and no one has
any fresh ideas.
Hope to be proved wrong.

Playing below potential is not necessarily just measured in
league positions. You could play below your potential and finish
1st, or above and finish last.
No-one should think we have a divine right to finish top 4, the
league is very competitive, but that doesn't mean we've not
played below potential

You are undoubtedly right from a etiquette and good manners
standpoint, but I really can’t, he has done so much avoidable
harm to the team, and was no better at Glasgow and although hard
to make them worse will probably do the same to Wales.
The nonsense 3 year plans and learnings from defeats, he seems a
nice bloke but alas completely out of his depth.
Just to add salt to the wound is in charge for another game
after picking a very weak team .
