On the other hand, I remember David making 2 superb last-gasp
try saving tackles in one gave that we won.

I agree NS and he was great against Sarries but that's two games
across a season. I don't know how that compares to 1st change
OBs at other sides so may well be normal expectation but that's
not my perspective. If he was involved in 10 or so tries a
season, then I can forgive the other bits, but.......

Don't get me wrong.
I think that TG is our first choice 15 and CM is our first
choice wing.
I just think that ND and RI are both okay as next best options.

Is that adjusted for minutes played? ND and RI averaged 62
minutes per game last season, TG was on 72 and CM on 77. He'd
still be behind the others but the gap is a bit less than it
might seem.
As ever, though, a squad needs players on different pay grades.
Murley and Isgro are probably on richer contracts than Green,
who's probably paid more than David (who we picked up in - or
shortly before - the Worcester fire sale, as I recall). If
that's the case, then it's fine that he doesn't deliver as much
as the others, because his job is to do a good job off the bench
or covering for injuries.
What those stats really say, though, is what a machine Murley
is.

BTW, Murley's try count for Quins currently stands at 67. Not
all of those will be in the Prem - but 10th on the all time Prem
try scorers is Paul Sackey on 69 with Banahan on 71 and Brown on
72.
A good run of games Murley could well see him on that list by
the end of the season.

Wow that's impressive!
He's only 26 too, so barring injury (🤞) or a serious
loss of form he's got another 6 or maybe more years in him and
will almost certainly be right up in there at the end of his
career. Ashton on 101 is on range too I'd think.

Wade has just joined Newcastle, so may well break Ashton’s
record, Murley is still improving and let’s hope for some more
England caps as well.

I thought Wade was going to League or something? Guy doesn't
seem to be able to stay put anywhere.

I think comparing other backs to Murley is a little unfair.
Obviously we'd like several Murleys in the squad, but he's one
of the top wingers in the country, even if Borthwick hasn't
trusted him much. Others are not going to look as good. We are,
inevitably, going to have a squad mostly made up of players who
aren't international quality, like Nick David, but who are
reliably good for the team. We're luckier than most in our
backs.

All good points above and yes, Murley is exceptional. But to
pick up on your point, FAF, 'but who are reliably good for the
team' how are we judging that? I would assume that we would want
more than 3 try involvements across a season, even if he had
lesser minutes, although his average minutes was 62 across the
season, due to Murley & Roddy's injuries. His tackle percentage
was higher than Tyrone's though, which was a shock but Tyrone
has dropped off that a bit last season. His Dominant tackles in
the league was 4 (TG - 6, RI - 4 & CM - 9) so he isn't far
behind the norm, again with Murley as an outlier but Tyrone and
Roddy played less games so on a level playing field, he still
feels short. No pun intended....
