Nick David had a slightly shaky first season with Quins and I
was very unsure of him, but since then, he's been excellent.
These two warm-ups he's been the best back, IMO.

Lots of overreaction on here IMO. It's a pre season friendly.
People gripe when the management say that we'll take some
learning from a defeat in the season. Surely it's better to get
things wrong now, so long as they really do learn from it.
I think Green and David looked good. Schmidt played well too,
and Bradley was pretty useful. Oddly, I'm concerned about
Cleaves. Just a feeling but I wonder about his work rate. I hope
he becomes more Murley than Ibitoye, if that makes sense.
And remember... Our matchday squad is unlikely to resemble what
       we saw yesterday.

Pre season friendly or not, the second half was pretty dire from
Quins point of view - I would have hoped for better cohesion and
the very few opportunities we had, were expertly messed up
       😐

I think you could see the naivety of the younger players when in
good attacking positions. They often took the wrong option and
ran into trouble. With Green, David and Porter in the first half
we were much more direct and slick in our attack. You can put a
good youngster into your first team and they look better because
of those around them . Several new players in team and it really
shows. But they need the experience and there’s no better way
than when the outcome of the game isn’t crucial.

Cleaves has lost a lot of pace, which was the thing that made
him dangerous to begin with. With Murley for England likely he
       will be needed

Hope it is just a return from injury temporary conditioning
problem, rather than a permanent loss of pace, as if it is
permanent, his game was virtually entirely based on pace.

Maybe he has bulked up and lost some speed - or could be self
concious of the hamstring issues [emoji15]

He certainly looked a bit bulkier.
But - that would be expected after such a long layoff.
It will take a few games for him to get back into full swing.
But, I would say that he looked fairly good in the first half.
We missed having him and Green in the second.
       Pleased to have him back.

Not gonna lie, I don't get the cult of Nick David. He's fast but
never seems either a) make the most of that pace in attack or b)
always running back in treacle once he's been beaten. A quick
look at the stats for last season show that he is the lesser
partner of the normal back 3 candidates:-
       ND 23 Appearances - 826 Metres made - 1 Try - 2 Try assists -
       369 Post contact metres
       TG 18 Appearances - 1088 Metres made - 4 Trys - 5 Try assists -
       344 Post contact metres
       RI 13 Appearances - 615 Metres made - 6 Trys - 1 Try assists -
       223 Post contact metres
       CM 16 Appearances - 1312 Metres made - 15 Trys - 2 Try assists -
       437 Post contact metres
Now, this all depends on what stats matter to you as individuals
but 3 try involvements across a season for a first change
outside back is very low (stats cobbled together between offy
       and Rugby Pass)

       Thanks for this @Banstead.
Taking your initial stats, it's even more stark on a per game
basis and really reveals just how good Murley is compared to the
       others
