Strictly speaking, Andy Robinson was an excellent International
Head Coach - an RWC winning one, in fact. The issue was that he
wasn't a good International Manager - I think mostly because he
was at his best on the pitch
When Woodward quit England, he had a call with Robinson where
the latter said he was going to throw his hat in the ring for
the top job, and Woodward reportedly told him "You don't want
that job, you want the job you've got." Very possibly the last
thing about rugby that Woodward got right...

This is a significant admission. Everyone knows that if you have
a strong curlture that everyone buys into, you will be more
successful. So by admitting that with Wigglesworth gone, the
culture was better, why would you
       1. Keep him (it's not as though he has excelled in attack
although apparently that is what he is best at and the boy can
       box kick...) and
       2. How is Blackett going to change the culture when Wigglesworth
is wanting to do it his way (and that's before you also have
Owen trying to drive things in the direction that suits him)
In short. Sounds like a mess and and a few more years's of
       underachievement.
It's depresing to think they are potentially grooming a coach
for the top job that can't foster a productive culture and for
whom the team performs better when they are not involved.

I fear you're reading far too much of what you want to see in
that article. I can't see any admission that the culture was
better without Wiggy - just that it was good. I'm pretty sure
the Lions also described their culture in positive terms - and
that England have also done so when Wiggy has been around.
For me, Borthwick is just saying that the squad did well to beat
Argentina 2-0 despite losing 13 players.

I mean… maybe he should grow in ‘The PREM’ first, rather than
international rugby. Or better yet, a club operating in regional
       competitions?
The level of incompetence in the RFU beggars belief.

Can’t recall a club ever stating their culture was bad whilst
having a coach in situ. So not convinced this tells us anything
