I'd rather a 12 played at 12, plus I would pick Northmore over
Beard currently if both are fit.

Oscar's main problem in attack that I can see is that he doesn't
really run hard lines the same way that Northmore does, which is
what makes Northmore such an attractive option to the coaches as
a 12. I thought he was making a good fist of playing 12 last
season tbh.
Oscar definitely has the ability to break tackles and his
defensive work has become a genuine strength at 13. Would just
like to see him challenge the defence more when he has the ball.
Feels like Northmore makes far more of his own attacking
attributes.

We have two excellent 13’s and good young 12, I like Northmore
at 13, but it is close, maybe Kerr could work as our backup 12.
Both Northmore and Beard are a waste at 12, but Northmore in an
emergency.

My thinking was that Beard is a powerful runner and is still
young enough to learn a different position, albeit only slightly
different. He may even adapt very quickly, whereas Northmore IMO
hasn't. In case of an emergency, it may be an option. It may
even be a better option than putting Dombrandt there :)
I also think that at the end of last season, Beard did enough to
keep the shirt for now. Luke needs to win it back.

Dingwall, Atkinson, Tuisova, De Allende, Barrett, that bloke
Exeter got before we worked it out, Memoncello, Aki…. Etc etc.
I’d have gone out to get a 12 over pretty much anyone else as
it’s obvious we need one. And maybe we did and they all turned
us down but it’s a worry we only have a kid in his second season
and no proven cover.

I think it’s slightly unfair to have fans provide 12s this close
to the start of the season. The reality is Northmore is always a
square peg in a round hole for 12, as there’s big difference
between being able to play 12, and being able to play there
well. The scouting should have been done by the club when we
knew Lennox was off, which was probably October last year.
Waghorn is still young and I imagine Wilson will juggle his
minutes. Also, if he’s out for the season first game in it would
be nothing short of a disaster. Whilst not his fault i wouldn’t
like to see the games win % with Luke at 12. It’s very much like
Marcus at 15, he can play there but no one would be massively
happy having him there when he has a better position.
