Totally agree as we have not replaced Andre. Northmore is a 13
and not a 12 and it is about time that Danny Wilson realised it.
He should take a look at England's recent tour of Argentina
where Luke played twice at 13, scored 1 try & made 2 assists.

A good signing! Both sides of the Dogos front row being shipped
       over.
We are a starting 12 away from being a much more complete team
than last year. You can argue we already are, on paper anyway.

I think we are a much better side already. A 12 would be the
       icing on the cake!
We can probably cope, but it would be nice to get some cover.
Personally I expect Waghorn to play most of the games starting
at 12. He's good enough. But we do need a backup because he'll
inevitably pick up a knock or two through the season and he
can't play every minute of every game. Even if it was just 20
       prem games.

Hasn't JEv played a fair bit at 12 pre-Quins? I'm sure he was
wearing a 12 shirt in some of his showreel. I'm surprised that
with Benson also coming through at 10 we haven't used him there
       at all

Waghorn should clearly be the first choice 12 now, and assuming
he stays fit, there should be enough cover at 12. Yes, I'd love
an international class 12, but budgets mean some positions are
going to be weaker, and I'm pleased we've beefed up the pack.
I'm still not sure we've got the team to challenge the top 4,
       but we'll see.

I get the point about coping without another recognised 12 but
that only works if we completely change the way we want our
backline to play. For years we’ve all known that our 12 has to
punch holes (JTH, Roberts, Molenaar, Andre - even Taps to some
extent) and hit hard in defence. To now go into a season with a
20 year old and no real cover is barking IMO. And our backline
play that way because we have had talent like Nev and Smith. So
if we are going to try another playmaker there, what does what
do to Smith? And our shape? It seems the three year plan is to
change what a lot of us enjoy watching based on confidence in
Wilson to deliver. That’s a worry surely.

Don't worry it looks like Domborabt is going to be cover at 12.
He could do a great job, liberated from his scrum duties.

I agree in general. I just think that, with limited budgets, we
have to look at which positions have homegrown players coming
through and which don't, and recruit to those that don't.
Waghorn is probably pretty cheap but has the potential to do the
job we need at 12. I don't think we had any more props coming
through who could do the job well enough, so we had to recruit
       them.
Not saying that all the recruitment has been great. It clearly
hasn't. And if they suddenly reveal another top-class 12, I'll
       be delighted.

Northmore is the man in possession of the 13 shirt for England
and having acquitted himself very well in Argentina, I would
imagine he will want to play solely at 13 to maximise his
chances of keeping his place in the test side.
On the props, Delgado’s signing suggests to me that Kerrod will
be primarily used at loosehead this season (which I’m OK with)
or at least until Wenger arrives and gets up to speed. It also
suggests that the writing’s on the wall for Will Hobson, he’s
always seemed to get good reports and has looked decent on the
handful of opportunities he’s had, but Streeter was chosen ahead
of him at the end of last season and Delgado will put him firmly
       in the reserve/dual registered category.
