Andre had a good game with some very powerful carrying. When you
see two of our championship winning squad starting for the Boks
and who we've replaced them with it explains last season
somewhat.

Pretty sure that was me and I stand by it. No doubt the
Wallabies look better for having played so many test matches
back to back but were awful in the first test against and
underwhelming Lions.

The Lions were not good on tour, Australia were just worse,
Libbock was dreadful in the second half, and this shows the flaw
in the South African bench, Australia were match ready and no
number of forward replacements were going to solve the problems.
The other match was really poor some of the passing was
dreadful, and everyone is going to put the high ball up against
New Zealand.

they were wrong.
The lions only won because aus had no warm up games.

I also thought Libbok started well but was definitely a weakness
in the second half. I still don't understand why he wasn't
replaced.
Moving forward, fitness of others permitting, I doubt he'll get
many more chances. He's another Elton Jantjes - talented but
horribly inconsistent. Capable of moments of brilliance, but too
many howlers. Very good, until he plays an international.

Isn't part of the problem that the long term alternative to
Libbok is Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, who is even more
inconsistent (at least in how he manages himself off the pitch)?
Maybe they should convert Andre to 10 rather than flanker. I
don't know how good his place kicking is, but we certainly
discussed him as the backup to Marcus when we were playing with
no fly half on the bench...

Who would have replaced him, Willemse replaced the fullback and
can play 10, but was there anyone else who could play 10.

He is also constantly injured and probably not a good idea to
hide an injury from the coach like he did.
The South African bench always seems to be a gamble in different
ways and you win some and you lose some by it.
