Pecking order for next season
DIR By: Which Tyler
Date: August 7, 2025, 2:54 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Hi guys.
I'm trying to put together how each squad is looking; so full
squads, academy, and pecking order - all that jazz.
HTML https://i.pinimg.com/736x/27/82/cf/2782cfcff7288d5d8293521f3c04dc7c.jpg
If you could give me some feedback, I would like to get this as
accurate as possible - so please point out any typos / human
error I've made; obvious mistakes in the pecking order or "that
guy plays tight head, not loose head" type things.
For the sake of ease – I’ve used
HTML https://all.rugby/tournament/premiership/
to get squad lists,
and the same for the summer’s transfers (which should be done by
now, barring LRZ finding a home, and Newcastle completing their
recruitment announcements).
I will continue to edit all of this; and get it as accurate as I
realistically can by season's kick-off. If you’re interested in
what other teams have got; I’ve put them all here:
HTML https://www.therugbyforum.com/threads/club-depth-for-next-season.50357/<br
/>but please note, this is before receiving local corrections.
The rules I’m using are that I can only place any player once,
and if they cover multiple positions, I’ll try to put them in
the position I think they’ll get most used, which may be their
preference, or it may be about squad depth. If an academy player
has played more than 20 matches for a daddy-club, or started
more than 12, or been capped – then I’m counting them as a
senior player.
Cheers; Aidan
ETA: Oh, and brackets are for an academy player who's yet to
play for daddy-club

Our squad list is here:

The "Team picker" column generally indicates their pref - e.g.
LH / TH

Two things -
1. I think you need to give permission to see the forms.
I get this "You do not have the required permissions to view the
files attached to this post."
2.I think it uses http rather than https - so, my network will
likely block it.

Shows how desperately light we are in the centres. Please please
please can go and get a specialist 12 to compete with Waghorn.

Indeed and Northmore is an outside centre no matter how much our
coach wants him to be an inside centre.
We need a 12 who can play the crash ball as that then opens up
other attacking options, also Anderson is not up to the
premiership, on the wing or at fullback, we should have cut our
losses on him.

His signing was always an odd one and even more how i think it
was extended (i think?)
It's fine saying "hes only a squad player" but he isn't there to
sweep up and make the teas, if called upon you still need to
roughly do a good job and not be out of place and offer
something. Lawday is the prime example of squad player in my
view, often never need but when called upon is up to a good
standard

I've been a vocal proponent that we should have got rid of
Lawday at the end of the previous season and let the younger
back rows come through but am happy to be wrong on that as his
performances last season, when needed were exceptional. But when
all are fit, he doesn't make the bench, so if he's happy to wait
for his chances then crack on, Tom.

Lawday is a more physical carrier than almost any of the rest of
our backrows. He can be relied on the make dents in the
opponents' defence. It's something we lack, and I would be
loathe to lose that option.
