Harlequins are pleased to announce scrum-half Max Green has
re-joined the Club on a season-long deal as injury cover.
Green’s arrival bolsters Danny Wilson’s options at scrum-half,
which already include Will Porter, new signing Stu Townsend,
Jake Murray, and Lucas Friday, who has made a significant
collective effort in his rehab and is set to return from a knee
       injury mid-season.
The 29-year-old first joined Quins ahead of the 2023/24 season,
in which he featured on 11 occasions including the Quarters’
famous Champions Cup quarter-final triumph over Union
       Bordeaux-Bègles.
The scrum-half returns to The Stoop after plying his trade in
France’s Nationale league with CA Périgueux Dordogne, where he
made 20 appearances and scored three tries on route to securing
a play-off spot with the French side.

Green started his rugby journey at Yorkshire Carnegie and has
previously represented England at Under-20 level. In 2017, Green
made the move to the West Country to join Bath Rugby, where he
would spend six seasons in the Blue, Black and White that
included loan spells both at Jersey Reds and Bristol Bears.
“I’m chuffed to be back at Harlequins! I really enjoyed my first
spell at the Club and we’ve got some cracking lads here, so it
was an easy decision for me to come back,” said Green.
“I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and do my bit for the
team to help make it a successful season.”
Head Coach, Danny Wilson added: “We’re pleased to have Max back
with us to reinforce our options at scrum half for the season
ahead. He’s someone who knows the Club and a lot of the playing
squad, which will aid his transition and hopefully allow him to
       hit the ground running."

       I don't really remember him - but -
Looking back at how he performed for us, it looks as though he
is a decent signing as injury cover.
Clearly the 3rd choice - but from reading the comments on the
board, it looks as though he had the occasional shocker. (But,
from reading the comments, he wasn't the only one in one
       particular game.)
But - it looks like he did okay in a few matches and he gets
comments that his kicking was good.

Shows how shocking my memory can be at times - when I saw he was
coming back to Quins I thought oh yeah I vaguely remember that
name. I was quite astounded to see he was with us last season!

I think that technically, it was the season before.
Quins announced him leaving on 17th May 2024
"Max Green joined Harlequins in September 2023. The scrum-half
achieved nine caps in the Quarters, making his debut against
Gloucester Rugby in the Premiership Rugby Cup. Prior to his move
to Quins, the former England U20 representative made 33
appearances for Bath Rugby from 2017 to 2023 and featured on
loan at Jersey Reds in 2020/21 and Bristol Bears in 2021/22."

He went to division 3 in France, could be a cost effective
       signing

Yeah - agree. I don't think that he will get much game time in
the Prem games. But, it looks like is a fairly safe pair of
hands to be on the bench in case of an injury to Porter/Townsend
and we will be useful in Prem Cup games, etc.

How soon we forget his box kicking! Safe pair of hands maybe
but his feet? Not so much.

Am I the only one who thought this wasn’t needed?
Porter, Townsend, Friday and that other young lad who did well
       against Connaught.
Why do the club think we need 5 on the books so rush to sign,
yet seem comfortable with only one out and out 12, who even last
season they don’t want to give too many minutes to.

My recollection is that he was ticking along nicely, above
Gjaltema in the ratings, before having one disastrous game where
nothing went right no matter how hard he tried and we were, by
our standards, relatively kind because it was obvious that he
could see what we could see but just couldn't get it back on
       track.
I hope he does well for us.
