What QP said but mainly because stats excite armchairs but
coaches need to look a bit harder and know a little more.
My insight isn't fascinating but your strange views on
statistics and points based selection is fascinating in a WTF
       way. 😁

You are not advocating looking at how they play and the level of
the opposition, how they fit into the team, how they react to
stress and adjust tactically, and all the other aspects of
playing rugby, over an excel spreadsheet surely.

What little I've seen of him does highlight a little too much
       his attitude.
As for a generational talent, maybe he needs to be around a
little longer before being labelled as such. He's had a great
season and put in some superb performances. Let's see if he can
       maintain it.
The names mentioned did exactly that. Other extraordinarily
talented players didn't, for various reasons. Our own Jack
Clifford unfortunately had a premature end to his career; Danny
Cipriani didn't hit the heights he could/should have done.
They're not alone in being lauded before they reached their
       peak.

       Well BB certainly isn't.
Maybe I fell into the old chasm. Never noticed RC being
       sarcastic before.

You can't judge generational talent on one season. OHC was a
generational talent, as is Muir as was Arundell and Cockanasiga
and Earl and I'm sure there are hundreds more over the last 20
years. I'm not saying Pollock won't be the most incredible
player over the next 10 years and change the way the game is
played in the back row but I'm not going to mug myself off by
predicting it after 1 season. Let's hope you're right so that
       England can benefit from it.
You can knock the stats based approach as much as you like but
you also then lose the right to complain about international
selection as that would only then be your opinion which wouldn't
be worth much with nothing to back it up. But we're all experts,
       right?

I've never heard anyone describe any of those as generational
talents, mainly because they are all pretty run of the mill
       Fringe international wingers.
If you're not able to see that a player like that will dominate
save only career-ending injury, then go ahead and reserve
judgement and wait until people tell you how good he is.

It's as broad as it's long, I suppose Rodney. I'd rather be
happy that someone just improved and improved from their
starting level and was just phenomenal game in game out than, do
you remember a bloke called (delete as applicable)

I think Arundel may have been when he first broke through
