I would like both teams too win, and it is certainly not a Quins
thing, and i am proud of the way the club has embraced the
womens game in a short time and is developing young players.
I think because the world cup is in England and we have a
England team that is both skilled and relatable that the general
non rugby public will get interested and the media will as well
Not only will this help the womens game but also the mens in
raising public awareness in rugby, i can watch football and
enjoy it, but having played and watched rugby from a young age
and having a daugther who plays, i have witnessed the benefits
that it brings to enhance peoples life skills and wellbeing.
I have only just joined this forum and it is all about us just
wanting Quins to do well and we often disagree about things and
make tongue in cheek remarks, but don't take them to heart, and
discussing rugby in general.
But this is a rugby forum and given the choice would rather my
children play rugby than football and want more people both men
and women to play and watch rugby.

I just think that it is great that football is finally getting
some media attention.
Generally it seems to get very little and it is wonderful that
everyone is finally able so see a few games on telly.
One other point though - the pubs may be a little quieter for
the High Tide Festival on Sunday - I can't imagine that people
will go in to the Eel Pie or the Royal Oak or the Fox, etc to
watch the footy if there is a loud live band playing in the
corner.

There are some sports I'm not fussed about either but, I would
always want an english team to win no matter what.
So I do still find it strange,
Each to their own I suppose!

Generally speaking, I have a dislike for the massive over-hype
when an English football team wins anything, even a single game.
The whole "we're the best in the world" vibe that follows wins
over pretty much anyone just grates after a while. When a team
genuinely does well - as the women's team appear to be doing -
I'm genuinely pleased for them. However, against the backdrop of
their earnings, status, and the way they are handled (more so in
the men's game), it does beg the question as to why they
wouldn't do well. For the men's bunch of preening, prancing,
multi-millionaire prima donnas to beat another team should come
as no surprise. For any team to actually win a World Cup is
different.
Having said that, I just don't get over excited about any
football game. Not even West Ham, these days.

As a fellow Irons fan Quinky I tend to concur
However, having been into Bath yesterday and seen all the young
girls with their England shirts I can only support any event
that engages these youngsters in a sporting aspiration or
pathway.
Without doubt my alliegence is always to rugby, but often the
parents will limit or otherwise influence the options for their
children.

Roy of the Rovers is suing for plagiarism.
Seriously, they have earned a gong or two - if it is Sir Bobby
Charlton for one cup, then they deserve Damehoods for back to
back European trophies with a World Cup final in the middle.
