to see him churn out games in one or two spots for a good number
of months and let the international stuff come when he is ready.

He has, but I think it's pretty usual for players at this stage
of their career, because the opposition work them out. His
challenge over the next season is to see if he can bring more to
his game and get back his dominance. Those that do, get long
international careers. Those that don't go back to being good
club players and that's where they stay.

I'd actually suggest that CCS needs to come away from
internationals and spend a season at Quins getting 60+ minutes
per game and build up consistency. I think he'll leave Quins
after this season but he needs to start playing, somewhere.

He was a bit part player at Irish. He's developing pretty
quickly but I think expectations were too high

He was also 19 (or just 20 at the end of the last season).
As a comparison, Schmidt, Browne and Carr are all 21 this year.
My recollection is that CCS had more game time at Irish than
those three have had at Quins.
Or put another way, he’s only a year older than them and gets
much more game time now.

Sure, I'm saying he didn't turn up as anything like the finished
article - he was bench fodder. He's now a regular starter and an
international.

Bit of a harsh way to describe him. Irish were managing the
start to his career well and he was looking good for them.

Hill and CCS are not really like for like players are they,
Borthwick must see something in CCS that fits into the grand
scheme.
Perhaps he also sees Hill as similar to Earl and the Curry’s in
playing style.
CCS is still very young and he is on an upward development
curve, hope he stays with us as he is a point of difference with
his power, and offers something in the lineout.
Hill is also competing with Pollock in the England squad, and
that will not be easy for him, there are more similar players to
Hill than CCS.

Hill for me plays similar to Robshaw - but with more pace. He's
nothing like CCS - but neither is he anything like Earl, Curry,
or Pollock. I wouldn't mind at all seeing him at 6 - it feels
like we've either been playing locks or a second 7 at 6 for a
little while now... and it works to a point, but there is
nothing more beautiful than a truly balanced back row.
England are lucky to have many options in that regard - but we
do struggle a bit for proper blindside flankers. Would love to
see Jack Clement given a shot and I personally think Pearson
should switch to 6 to further his ambitions and give himself a
chance of making training squads again, because 7 is congested.
If he did, we could field 3-4 full back rows that have balance
and quality.
Hill / T Curry / Willis
CCS / Underhill / Dombrandt
Pearson / Earl / Barbeary
Clement / Pollock / Fisilau
Ilione / B Curry / Chick (OK, now we're stretching)
A few quality 7s in behind that lot too:
Pepper
Kenningham
Evans
Harding
Whichever way you look at it, back row is a nice problem to have
for England at the moment.

Delayed due to lightning, guess JVP selection hasn't gone down
well upstairs 😜
