Who gets to decide that though? It may be a beneficial cash cow
for the host nation but do the Lions want to continue to
stagnate as an idea or innovate.
A South American tour with three tests against Argentina with
warm ups against Uruguay, Chile, USA, Pampas XV etc would be
interesting and no walk over.
A French series with warm ups against Toulouse, Bordeaux etc
sounds great but the calendar means a lot of those teams are
still playing each other when a tour normally starts so would
need work. Be a massive money-spinner for all concerned though
and at the end of the day, £ often speaks loudest.

I can see that being popular with supporters; it's been
suggested by quite a few people.
I'd like to know how the players would feel about it. There
would be the same honour of being selected but would they regard
it as an adequate challenge? As it stands virtually all the
squad would expect to beat Argentina with their full national
team.

But French international tv rights are free to air, so not
really also the Lions make money from fans travel packages,
sponsorship would be much the same, so going to France would
show less profit for the Lions.

I can't really see Lions/France deal working, given how long
the French season is. They finished on the 28th of June, with
the new season starting on 6th Sept. Most of the teams are
already a week or two into their pre-season build up as it is.
No way they could fit in a full Lions schedule, especially as
the Lions would want three warm up games against the top sides
who will have only just finished a long grueling season the week
before.

Having not yet done a Lions tour, I would not get excited about
France. The quality of the warm up matches for sure would be
epic but I'd rather just come home the day after the game and
come back on match day's. Maybe do the Tests as a two week trip?
The costs would be horrific as well as Euro and UK pricing.
Don't think you'd get the same red army feel for it. Anyway,
hoping to do the next one in a Winnebago, so may change my view
after that. Argentina would be great to tour as well.

Most Lions tickets come as part of travel packages, there are
very few stand alone tickets available.
The packages are not cheap, which is a major way they make a
profit out of the tours
The packages mostly include hotel accommodation and often
flights, which is why I can’t see them wanting to do a France
tour.
Will be interesting to see what they charge for the 2027 women’s
tour to NZ, but I suspect that the tests will sell out for that
and allow them to charge highly, but would the same work in
Australia and South Africa for the women, given both teams are
weak.

I dont know how youd ever be able to do a france tour. The lions
tour already clashes with the end of the top 14 season and youd
be asking their clubs to play warm up games in their off season.
Just dont see how it would work logistically.

A group of us went on the last tour to Aus in 2013. Manged to
get tickets for the tests via a contact. Spoke to a lot of
supporters who'd bought packages; it seems they weren't selling
well, so they were offering out upgrades, enhanced packages,
reduced pricing etc.
No surprise, as we used to do HK &s every year. I won't name the
company doing the packaging, but at some point they were given
exclusive agency for the tickets, and boy did they know how to
mark up a package!!! Once again, it was easy and cheaper to
arrange everything and source tickets in HM. There were always
people selling them outside, often below face value. And now the
7s has moved to a bigger stadium, I think tickets will be much
easier to source.
