I know we are meant to get up for the Lioms but found it dull as
ditchwater, with players yet again picked on history not form
Argentina v England, great game of rugby, Ford excellent , and
       Northmore didn’t let himself down
Cadan also looked decent along with Fin

Funny that - I thought the England game was one of the least
enjoyable (Eng) matches I've seen in recent years.

First half was good, second half we reverted to the Borthwick
hoof it up in the air style, but still a good win against a
       strong side.
Lions tours have never lived up to the hype in recent years, too
many vested interests in selection by the coach and players
expected to play in a completely different style than they
       normally do at international level.

What’s really depressing is that when we reverted to slowing
their ball down and playing for territory we looked like much
       the better team.

Whether we agree with the style or not England under Borthwick
look like a serious team now. There's a real identity and
multiple players who can slot into it. Really don't know why
it's taken him so long to bring Spencer in at 9 over Randall etc
       - he's the perfect player for what he wants to do there.
Luke was excellent and not out of place at all. Hope he gets
another go vs the US Eagles next week. I think we finished the
game with Dombrandt at 13 due to a knock he picked up...

England had all the possession and territory, but Argentina
almost held on for a draw, and could have won. Yet the
commentators kept talking about English brilliance.

England minus 14(?) players had all the possession and territory
away against the 5/6th ranked team in the world.
England lost their captain and most experienced player on the
       day of the match.
Take out George Ford and England had fewer caps than Montoya and
       Matera combined.
England’s centres had 1 cap between them.
       England won.
I know many in here don’t like Borthwick but that 2-0 is (for
       me) a brilliant result.

Winning away from home in Argentina with an understrength squad
during the Lions tour has always been a tough ask. Winning both
games and securing a 6 point swing in the rankings ahead of the
RWC draw is better than most people expected, especially
considering that side had only 5 or 6 players who would be part
of the full strength England XXIII.
Commentators always get over excited, and to be fair to them
they were (correctly) full of praise for Argentina’s goal line
       defence as well.

Me too, although there have been a few for comparison.
I found it extremely frustrating to see us have so much
possession and territory only to keep dropping the ball or being
       turned over.

I thought Atkinson's work rate across the 2 games was excellent.
Steward gave his usual 50/50 mix, Muir hasn't reflected his Bath
form so far and JVP is still so bloody infuriating but like his
mentor, always pops up on the end for tries!!!!!
Luke had a solid game and good offloads. Ran a few dummy lines
to open up the space for others. Cadan was everywhere when he
got on and Dommers in the centre was interesting. I think CCS
only got about 40 seconds which was daft.
Hopefully the subs and squad players get the starts against the
USA, as that should be good enough.
