       O/T Future Lions Tours

So, reading a Lions puff piece in the Grauniad, I see the Lions
chief executive suggesting future Lions tours to France. Am I
the only one who would find this underwhelming? All the home
nations place France regularly, as well as competing in the
Champions and Challenge cups with French teams.
For me, the whole point of the Lions is to play somewhere more
exotic against teams we don't often come up against. A tour
against France would just be ... boring.

I’m not sure how a trip to France would work given that the
Lions take northern hemisphere players and play southern
hemisphere teams during the northern hemisphere off season.
So, for example, playing Bordeaux or Toulouse would make logical
choices for warm up games/mid week games but they’d be on their
       holidays.

Perhaps if France continue their dominance for a few more years,
culminating them in winning the RWC it probably would add more
of an incentive to mix it up.
Currently it probably wouldn’t be that much of an easy sell, as
touring for the Lions usually invokes images of some far away
conquest of togetherness and bonding. Not sure a tour to France
after getting a short Euro star conjures up the same excitement.
Only plus point would be more friendly viewing and drinking
times due to the time zone.

It's this reason I don't go to mainland Europe.
Instead I'm more of a USA, fireworks, eagles flying everywhere,
f22 raptors doing barrel rolls kinda guy. Do like a good dive
bar, a bit like the ones in Terminator with the motorcycle
scene. Its precisely this why I want to go for the RWC there.

I'd like to see the Lions playing France while they are also on
tour. For example, France are currently in NZ for a tour, so
they are in the same general part of the world, if not quite
local. Imagine playing France on the final weekend before the
Lions tests against the host country - that would be pretty
       amazing.

A three test tour of Argentina would be vastly superior to a
trip across the channel. Games in Buenos Aires, Cordoba and
Mendoza - heartlands of rugby, steak and wine. Players and fans
       would love it.
Warm ups against Chile, Uruguay, USA and Canada could all be
       considered.

The romantic in me would love a tour to Argentina. It's one of
my favourite countries to have visited (for the exact reasons
you mention). And Los Pumas definitely deserve a high profile
tour - arguably more so than Australia.
However, I worry about the opposition beneath the tests.
Typically, the Lions play progressively harder teams as the tour
goes on but I can't see how anyone in the Americas would offer
the challenge of the Tahs, Saders or Stormers.
Potentially, there could be an Americas Barbarians but how much
       time would they get together?

Uruguay would be decent. Get the USA and Canada involved and I
don't think that's too different to the current tours, maybe
       better
