100% HQ, when the squad was announced that's exactly how I (and
others) saw Marcus on this tour. His versatility, as annoying as
everyone sees it, is what makes him the bench option and if
Russell goes out of form or down injured in a game.
Feels wrong to throw stones but Smith F, looked like the league
Saints rather than Europe and good to see Tomos Williams, who
was very good, call him out on the pitch. That's the kind of
attitude that works on these tours.
Taking Maro off was weird, unless he had a knock.

You are right, trouble is the Irish style of attacking play has
taken years to develop, and is starting to be found out by the
opposition.
Not sure what the plan in defence was, but it did not function
at all.
I hope this was just first night nerves and not a coaching issue
about not being able to play any other way than the Irish way.

WT's proposed calendar
Sat 1: Canada in Ottawa
Wed 2: MLR Allstars in Boston
Sat 2: USA in New York
Sat 3: Uruguay in Montevideo
Wed 4: Chile in Santiago
Sat 4: Americas Invitational in Mendoza
Sat 5: Argentina in Buenos Aires
Wed 6: Brasil in Porto Alegre
Sat 6: Argentina in Cordoba
Sat 7: Argentina in Buenos Aires
Whilst it's a lot of air miles, there's no major time zone
changes.
Presumably you'd set up camp initially somewhere around New
York, and then somewhere around Buenos Aires; and travel to
matches from those 2 camps. Only flights that's longer than 2
hours would be New York to Buenos Aires.
3.00pm KO in North America would be 8.00pm viewing time in B&I
3.00pm KO in Buenos Aires would be 7.00pm viewing time in B&I

I had not thought of adding in North America, but adding those
two years after the Man's World Cup, I am sure they would sell
out - and generate excitement for the Women's tournament.
But perhaps play Canada in the Olympic Stadium in Montreal.

Thought the game was crying out for Marcus to be moved up to 10
for the last ten minutes to conjure up a try to win the game.
There was a lack of creativity in the Lions attacks unless he
was involved.

I didn't think Marcus had a bad game, and actually produced a
few moments of brilliance.
I also didn't think Fin Smith had a good game. Looked very
ordinary and didn't create much.

Marcus is on a different plane. SB either needs to commit to him
permanently and give him the players around him that operate at
the same level or stop fannying around.

Any player who can only function with "the right players" around
them is inherently limited. Marcus needs to deal with that if he
wants to be more than a very good bench option.

Hopefully with Faz coming back next season it might give a bit
more incentive to both Smiths to keep playing at the top of
their game, as I don’t think it will take much for OF to get
back in the England set up ahead of the RWC

Farrell has started 26 times at 10 and 58 times at 12 for
England, so has rarely been the first choice 10.
