Manu was a player who was given the shirt as long as could make
it onto the pitch, regardless of form or whether he was at full
fitness (seemingly almost never). Talent alone doesn't earn the
shirt.

I've just realised that despite all the fanfare about being
called up to the training squad, Henry Arundell wasn't included
in the touring party either. I'm not arguing for his inclusion
as I wouldn't for Farrell as both haven't shown much startling
form for Racing in the past 12 months, but
if he has to wait behind Roebuck/Muir/Murley (which I don't
disagree with) then I'm not sure why IFW gets special treatment

Has Borthwick actually said that he's taking IFW instead of
someone else?
IFW has a central contract so he's quite a bit cheaper than
taking another player. That also means England are managing his
rehab, which may also be significant.

On this point, listen to Borethick on RUW this morning, he says
player's like Slade "drive the standards". So if the facts above
are the standards we need to set, then god help us!!!

Sorry BB, I missed this.
Absolutely and I'm dying in that ditch until the day I depart
this mortal coil 😁. We've just implemented Co-Pilot at
work (god help us) so I'm going to get that to set up a spreddy
for me!!!!!

Saying Slade drives the standard is a bit like saying I motivate
the Quins with my feedback

IFW is a fabulous player with huge potential who already offers
a point of difference. Let's not pretend he's being unfairly
boosted.
Rodders, I don't think there's a huge difference in the strike
rates of Roebuck and Sleightholm over the last couple of
seasons. The latter has the better record but in all honesty I
think he's been exposed a bit at international level and looks
extremely naive in defence, plus isn't good in the air. Similar
situation to Murley but he's had a lot more opportunities.
Roebuck is an excellent try scorer who is also a massive bloke
and a real aerial threat.

I have to say I was beginning to doubt my memory because I seem
to remember IFW looking pretty special.

So here's a question that will no doubt only lead to peace and
harmony.
On 1st November, England welcome Australia to Twickenham. If
everyone is fit, what's your 23 for England?
