Fin Baxter will start at loosehead prop for England XV, with
Chandler Cunningham-South, Alex Dombrandt, Jack Kenningham and
Oscar Beard all named amongst the replacement, when Steve
Borthwick's side take on France XV in Saturday's uncapped match
at Allianz Stadium.
George Ford and Jamie George are named as co-captains, in a side
that contains 18 full-internationals.
Baxter starts in the front-row with George and Joe Heyes.
The second-row features Alex Coles partnered with Nick Isiekwe.
The back row sees Ted Hill on the blindside flank, his club
teammate Guy Pepper on the openside, with Tom Willis at No.8 to
complete the pack.
The half-back pairing is Ben Spencer at scrum-half with Ford at
fly-half.
In midfield, Seb Atkinson lines up at inside centre with Henry
Slade outside him at 13.
The back three is made up of Immanuel Feyi-Waboso on the left
wing, Tom Roebuck on the right, and Joe Carpenter at full-back.
Theo Dan, Bevan Rodd, Trevor Davison, Cunningham-South,
Kenningham, Dombrandt, Raffi Quirke and Beard are named as
replacements.
Head Coach Steve Borthwick said: “We're excited to be playing at
Allianz Stadium and to test ourselves against a strong French
side. I’m really looking forward to seeing this young team get
out there and show what they’re capable of. It’s a great
opportunity to take another step forward ahead of the summer
Tour to Argentina and the US.”

Not a bad side.
The only major gripe is Slade who has rarely done anything of
note in an England shirt. People bang on about experience, but
its not counted for much in his last test outings.
Tough on Murley, but Roebuck coming off the back of a good
England run. IFW I imagine has been told he has an outside lions
spot should anything happen, so wouldn't suprise me if the RFU
have been told to give him as many minutes as possible. Murley I
imagine will at least get a USA run out.

I presume they're not playing Murley so that he is fully ready
for Argentina??? Shame it's not a test match for Beard & Kenners
(and Carpenter, I like him). Delighted that Baxter is starting.
Meh about Slade but I do understand there's not a lot of
experience without him and Ford.

I'd assume that the back row replacements will all get a decent
run out - the flankers are all fairly inexperienced and I think
this an audition for them before the games that count.
The 6/2 split and lack of fly half cover could get interesting
if there's an injury anywhere in the backline. Beard and Quirke
can both cover wing, Beard (and Slade, I suppose) can cover 12
at a push, but not sure who covers 10 or 15. It will also be
interesting to see who out of Dommers, CCS and Hill is seen as
the replacement lock, and whether that gives Kenningham a chance
to show what he can do against an international lineout.

Good shout PoorFour, unless Borethick's genius has unearthed
that Atkinson can play 10 😁

You're right NS, nothing there, could only gauge this:-
From Monday 16 June, a first group of up to 28 players (not
playing in TOP 14 semi-finalist clubs) will be gathered in
Marcoussis, and will prepare for a France A match against
England A scheduled for Saturday 21 June at Twickenham.
From Monday 23 June, the group will be completed by players from
the clubs eliminated in the semi-finals of the TOP 14.
From Tuesday 1 July, the TOP 14 finalists will be able to join
the group in New Zealand, to play the 2nd and 3rd test matches.
