Harlequins have named their final matchday squad of the 2024/25
campaign to take on Bristol Bears at Ashton Gate on Saturday
(15:05 kick-off).
Danny Wilson has made three changes to the starting XV that
narrowly beat Exeter Chiefs in Round 17 as Jamie Benson is named
at fly-half for his first Gallagher Premiership start.
Elsewhere in the backline, Luke Northmore comes into the side at
inside centre for the trip to the West Country. Nick David also
starts at full-back in place of Tyrone Green.
Jonny Green retains his place in the second row after making his
league debut against the Chiefs as well as Sean Kerr, who is
named amongst the replacements in a 5-3 split.
Additional Senior Academy inclusions see Ollie Streeter and Jake
Murray named in the wider matchday squad.
Jordan Els is also set to make his 50th appearance in the
Quarters when introduced at Ashton Gate.
Meanwhile, Leigh Halfpenny is in-line to make his last
appearance in the Quarters after the Welsh centurion's departure
was confirmed last week.

Odds on that they're resting Marcus so that he's not injured
playing in a game that has minimal import before the Lions tour.
To be honest, I'm glad they're doing that. Plus it gives
Benson/Porter a decent run-out as a pairing as they'll no doubt
be in the regular mix next season, particularly during
International Windows & rest periods.

Yup. Nothing on the line for us so a good opportunity to give
Benson another start. Hopefully Streeter, Kerr and Murray get a
good amount of minutes.
Good to see David at fullback. I think he's far more effective
at 15 then wing.
Second row looks lightweight and with no Waghorn, we might
struggle with gain line.

I don't really get the minimal importance thing.
We could get up to 5th place if all goes our way.
It is a damn site easier signing new players and getting new
sponsors when you are in the top half of the table rather than
the bottom half.
Also - this gives as a better draw in the Champions Cup.

The chances of us improving our league position are incredibly
slim.

None of which, in my opinion, would make it worth risking Marcus
Smith before the Lions tour.

Bath are fielding a 3rd/4th/Academy team against Sarries' 1sts.
There are apparently players making their Premiership debuts who
are leaving Bath this season.
