He was pretty good. Launchbury was world class. I'll reserve
judgement.
I guess at least he actually WAS good at one stage, so
definitely a better signing than Williams.

Another signing the wrong side of 30. Should've just kept
Jibulu.

not top flight rugby.

I've not seen Turner since he went to Japan, but he was probably
still the first - or at worst second - pick for Scotland when he
left us (Glasgow). It was purely a money thing.
Think he'll do well for you and your style. Loose play is
excellent, and he is, erm, "combative" to say the least. He's a
Scottish hooker, so needless to say though that his arrows
aren't always the best!

Launchbury wasn't really tearing it up in his final seasons at
Wasps. Halfpenny was awful for a few seasons in those rare
periods when he was fit and was clearly an extremely poor
signing if we ever expected him to play. Turner is a livewire,
more Dave Ward than Walker.
Japanese rugby has a lot of excellent overseas players. Just
because we've had some poorly considered signings, doesn't mean
everyone from there is well past it or that everyone past 30 is
going to be a waste of money.

Maybe we can expect Nathan Hughes announced shortly to fill
Trenholms void [emoji6]

That's true Jammy, and Turner may prove himself to be far from
over the hill (a la Scott Baldwin). But there does seem a
concerning pattern which is that our squad is increasingly made
up of those 25 or under or 32 or over. We seem to have very few
players who you'd say are in the peak years bracket.
If you're overly reliant on younger and older players, you can
expect greater levels of inconsistency and injury respectively.

He’s 32 hardly an old man
Was a very good player, and his style of play should suit Quins
Think I’ll save judgement until he pulls on the quarters,

Els, Titi, Walker, Dombrandt, Chis, Lawday, WEv, Porter, Marcus,
JEv, Northmore, David, Isgro, Green are all in that 26-31
bracket, with Murley, Musk, and Kenningham all 25.
That's a big chunk of the squad in the sweet spot, no?

I know, right? It was such a disaster with Bomb that I can't see
why the club would ever do it again.

Jammy - I think that we have mentioned to you before that you
shouldn't use facts to back up arguments . . .
