It's also funny that he does focus on that Saracens away win as
a turning point, because he deliberately rested a bunch of
players and clearly considered it one we'd lose anyway

True. But the motivation to hump Sarries is strong in this one.

But who would replace Wilson? I read that Tigers wanted Gustard
next year but his French club refused. They then got Geof
Parling who is an assistant coach with Australia but has not had
head coach experience.

Lancaster is taking over at Connacht. Shame, he'd have been a
good fit for such an academy focused club here

Good appointment for Connacht. Not surprised Lancaster hasn't
returned to coach in English rugby. Get the feeling he still
feels badly treated from the '15 RWC and can live quite happily
without the English media.

Connaught's gain is Quins loss - not that we are looking to
replace DW.....:-(

Billy and Lancaster could be quite the team. Well played IRFU.

Assuming they fund Connacht properly…

Level of expectation at Connacht is pretty low so they'll be
happy with top half or URC and anything remotely decent in the
european cup comps.
Battling to be the 3rd best irish team on limited budget is
tough but also realistic.
I'd say 8 out the 10 Prem clubs' fans realistically expect top
four finishes so 50% are always going to be disappointed and
think their club should have done better.

This season I reckon everyone but Newcastle started with hopes
of top 4. Despite being at the beginning of a rebuild in 2023/4,
Exeter still won more than they lost and finished just 6 points
off 4th ahead of Tigers and Gloucester.
An improvement the following season wouldn’t be a massive shock.
