Jordan Els in action for Harlequins.
Harlequins are pleased to confirm that loosehead prop Jordan Els
has penned a contract extension with the Club.
The South African made his debut for the Club during the 2019/20
season and has since gone on to make 48 appearances in a
Harlequins shirt, including appearances in the Gallagher
       Premiership and Investec Champions Cup.
Former Hollywoodbets Shark, Els joined Harlequins from fellow
London side Ealing Trailfinders. Following his move to Quins,
the prop made 14 appearances in his first season, making his
Gallagher Premiership debut against Wasps in September 2020.
Commenting on his new contract, Els said: “I’ve loved my time at
Quins so far and I’m excited to be extending my contract into
next season. This is a really ambitious group of players and
coaches, and I know that there is a real desire to achieve
something special in the years to come.”
Head Coach Danny Wilson added: “Jordan continues provides us
with good depth in our front-row options and he’s worked hard to
improve his all-round game this season.
“He’s been called up on some crucial moments throughout his time
at the Club and stood up to the test. We’re confident he’ll
continue to improve and make an impact heading into next
       season.”

I like Els. Would like to see him get a decent run starting
(which is easier said than done with Baxter).
       Solid peformer

You'll get your wish at the start of next season, as Baxter will
be rested after the England tour. Also a chance that he'll get
on the Lions ticket as at least one of those LHs will go down
       before then.

If Wynn-Jones is off then who is our 3rd choice LH now? An
academy lad even more baby-faced than Baxter?

Kerrod also played at LH for an extended period a couple of
seasons back - and, for me, was markedly better on that side.
He's moved back to TH of late but with Williams, Titi, Hobson
and now Streeter at 3 maybe Kerrod will switch over again.

It should also be mentioned that Baxter also used to be on the
       other side.
And, I also think that Will Hobson has featured on both sides.

From what I can see a lot of props start out playing both sides
in age grade rugby and then specialise based on where they are
most capable and where their academy club most needs them to
play - but sometimes they only find their true calling later, as
with Lambo. And, for that matter, Bomb.
